President’s Report to the ONOC General Assembly

The challenge of a higher level of competition for all athletes is needed to help our Island athletes raise their performance level in international competitions.

In addition, there has been increasing cooperation between ONOC and the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) in sports education and competition. An MOU signed with the OCA and the Government and NOC of Turkmenistan, will provide further opportunities for competition for both Olympic and non Olympic Sports Federations in 2017.

This report will provide a brief overview of our work since the last AGM in 2013, with more detailed reports to be provided in the relevant section of our printed Annual report.

ADMINISTRATION Three new staff members have joined the ONOC office in Suva. Grant Peterson, who was brought on board to support our event staff during busy periods in 2014, has now been confirmed as a full time staff member and will focus primarily on travel arrangements for staff and ONOC members.
