BECAUSE OF HILLEL... ANNUAL REPORT 2018 MISSION VISION Dear friends,

Enriching the lives As we head into the final year of The Drive to Excellence, our five-year strategic plan to ensure that every Hillel We envision a world is equipped with the resources to positively engage students and build Jewish community on campus, now is of Jewish students where every student a good time to pause and take stock of our progress. so that they When we launched The Drive to Excellence, we announced a new international standard of excellence – is inspired to make an engaging at least 70 percent of Jewish students on campus at least once per year and helping 30 percent may enrich the enduring commitment have a deeper engagement of six or more interactions or a high-impact experience. Jewish people We’ve studied our impact on students, and we know that these interactions lead to higher Jewish student to Jewish life, learning outcomes. and the world. and . Four years into The Drive to Excellence, as this report shows, we are on track to meet our ambitious goals. According to our Measuring Excellence data, we engaged an estimated 131,000 students around the world last year. Of those, we engaged more than one-third of them – 50,000 students – six or more times. In these pages, you’ll meet some of these students and learn their stories.

Because of Hillel, these diverse students have Jewish social networks, see the value of Judaism in their lives, are building relationships with Israel and increasing their Jewish knowledge and literacy.

As Hillel transforms into a truly data-driven organization, we have built a framework to help every Hillel achieve these outcomes. The machinery is in place now, especially with the growth of the Springboard Fellowship to connect with students, infuse creativity into all aspects of Hillel’s work and build our talent pipeline; HillelU to develop and train our talented professionals; and the Campus Support Directors cohort to advise and counsel them.

These innovations have helped nearly 70 percent of campus Hillels improve in both breadth and depth over last year.

Yet, more work remains to be done to reach our 2020 goals. With your continued support, we will help every Hillel achieve excellence in student engagement. Truly, there’s no higher return in the Jewish world for your philanthropic investment than Hillel.

Thank you for helping us build the Jewish future. We are so proud of what we’ve accomplished in 2018, and we look forward to serving even more students in the year ahead.
