The destroyer of his own cruel and ancient race, as well as its final ruler, Elric is the bearer of a destiny as dark and cursed as the vampiric sword he carries - the sentient black blade known as Stormbringer. On his solo journey, he happens upon a castle where he takes refuge with - and then falls in love with - the keeper of the castle, the beautiful Sabrina. Or better yet, a journey through time? Pub Date: Nov. Perhaps a hunt for aliens could lift his spirits? After the particularly horrific destruction of a city in which he played a role, von Bek decides to desert the military company he was working for and travel alone for awhile before seeking further employment. I've always loved Fortress as it felt almost like a travelogue of human nature, but Revenge would have to come a very close second. See 1 question about Elric…. View Results. Comment Post Cancel. • Hyperobjectifijaculation
Hyperobjectifijaculation The Silencers (1966), Directed by Phil Karlson By Fearless Young Orphan Last time we discussed the ultimate cold war spy film, The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, typically listed among the greatest spy films made to date. Let’s not let quality go to our heads. This time around, we’re going to dive headfirst into the polar opposite, which is such an overbearing farce that I’m not sure it should be mentioned by title in the same paragraph, for fear of offending the movie gods. Matt Helm is actually the secret agent from a series of espionage novels by Donald Hamilton. Mr. Hamilton’s books were of a serious nature, so who knows what he thought when the rights were purchased and the franchise turned into a sleazy sex-romp. I hope he was just pleased with the money; he did, after all, go on to write a couple dozen more books in the series. Released almost simultaneously with Our Man Flint in 1966, The Silencers represents the ugly extreme of James Bond spoofing. Three more films follow in the series: Murderer’s Row, The Ambushers, and The Wrecking Crew. I understand that this is the “best” of the four, but that’s sort of like saying “That was the best case of stomach flu I’ve ever suffered.” The Silencers is not clever enough to even be called a spoof in my opinion; I’d consider it closer to being a spy nerd’s dirty dream. Basically it takes any concept of actual secret agents and skips it for the sake of showing as many gorgeous women as it possibly can, in various states of undress.

  • The Wrecking Crew’
© Copyright 2012 Walt Missingham ‘THE WRECKING CREW’ The Forgotten Bruce Lee Movie Written by Walt Missingham The Wrecking Crew, released in 1969 and starring Dean Martin, Elke Sommer, Nancy Kwan and Sharon Tate is the fourth and final film in a series of American comedy-spy-fi theatrical releases featuring Martin as secret agent Matt Helm. As with the previous three Helm spy movies (The Silencers, Murderers' Row, and The Ambushers), it is based only loosely upon Donald Hamilton's 1960 novel of the same title and takes great liberties with the plot and characters, being developed as a spoof of the James Bond films. The Wrecking Crew was the second Helm novel published and the earliest of the books to be adapted. This was the last film of Tate's to be released before her murder at the hands of Charles Manson's followers on August 9, 1969. © Copyright 2012 Walt Missingham Bruce Lee coaching Nancy Kwan and Sharon Tate Not known by many is that the film featured a virtual who’s who of American martial arts royalty with Chuck Norris, Joe Lewis, Ed Parker and Bruce Lee all appearing in the film. Bruce Lee was engaged as the martial arts choreographer for the film and insisted on bringing in as many top martial arts exponents as he could. © Copyright 2012 Walt Missingham Joe Lewis squares off against Dean Martin As the film progressed it became obvious to Dean Martin as well as Producer Irving Allen and Director Phil Karlson that Lee’s skills and the martial arts in general should and would be an integral part of the next Mat Helm movie ‘The Ravagers’ Chuck Norris with Elke Summers and Dean Martin © Copyright 2012 Walt Missingham Bruce Lee was choreographer for the fight scenes but also doubled for Dean Martin in all the fights.

  • Jimmy Carter: a Moral Hero (Student Essay)
Jimmy Carter: A Moral Hero (Student Essay) Danny Haidar (Utica Academy for International Studies) Abstract. Following the end of Jimmy Carter’s first and only term as President of the United States, historians scrambled to put his presidency in the proper context. More than thirty years later, Carter has become associated with failed presidencies. To be compared to him is to be insulted. Even so, Jimmy Carter has had one of the most prolific, philanthropic post-presidential lives of any former American president. This is inconsistent with the image of his single term in office that the media has painted—a good man should have been a good president. To better understand this irony, this investigation shall seek to answer the following question: how did Jimmy Carter’s pre-presidential experiences affect his leadership as President of the United States of America (1977-1981)? This article will draw on apolitical, supportive and critical accounts of Carter’s presidency, as well as Carter’s own accounts of his beliefs and childhood experiences. While historians interpret Carter’s life events differently, each interpretation reveals important influences on Carter’s leadership in the White House. I will argue that Carter held too tightly to his morals to be suited to presidency. Carter’s childhood and pre-presidential political experiences created a man who was, indeed, unfit for the White House. The problem was less with his political vision than it was with his execution of that vision. Carter’s tragic presidential tale serves as a reminder that moral malleability is a necessity in the highest office of a government.

  • English Bartolomé Esteban Murillo Fourth Centenary
ENGLISH BARTOLOMÉ ESTEBAN MURILLO FOURTH CENTENARY To mark the four hundredth anniversary of Murillo’s birth, this museum has brought together fifty-five of his works. Universal artist identified with Seville, inter- preting the themes of the city’s devotion, dec- orating some of its most emblematic monu- ments with his paintings, and capturing its residents from all walks of life on his canvases. The exhibition is organised around thematic criteria reflecting the painter’s personal vision of the religious and civic context in which he lived. His profound, intuitive and eminently humane eye enabled him to render that con- text in an inspiring manner, whether he was painting beggars or nobles. His creative skill and sincere spirituality are also clearly mani- fested in the devotional paintings he produced, which are filled with details of daily life, while his moving conception of the transcendental is [ 2 ] [ 3 ] conveyed through images that are both highly original and beautiful. The nine sections into which the exhibition is divided provide a glimpse of the world through Murillo’s eyes: from the religious paintings which introduced such memorable prototypes in the history of art—with a particular exper- tise in the case of the Immaculate Concep- tion—to the social reality of 17th-century Se- ville, a city of paupers and saints, of rascals and wealthy noblemen and merchants who could afford to have their portraits painted by the famous master. This exhibition provides a unique opportunity to revisit many of his works and discover new ones. Above all, it is a chance to see how Mu- rillo combines his genius use of technical and I.

The story Behold the Man with Karl's violent arrival Behold the Man the Holy Land of AD 28, where his time machine, a womb-like, fluid-filled sphere, cracks open and becomes useless. By interpolating numerous memories and flashbacks, Moorcock tells the parallel story Behold the Man Karl's troubled past in 20th century London, and tries to Behold the Man why he's willing to risk everything to meet Jesus. We learn that Karl has chronic problems with women, homosexual tendencies, an interest in the ideas of Jungand many neuroses Behold the Man, including a messiah complex. This appears to be a departure from his stance while in the White House (1977–1981), when Islamic feminism many feminist groups criticized him for his lack of effort on women's issues. This paper analyzes the historical US second-wave feminism record and Carter's own writing to compare his work since 2009 with his position on women's issues during his Religious right presidency. I argue that although women's issues have become a higher priority for Carter, his approach still has much in common with attitudes that that angered feminists in the 1970s, including an emphasis on the morality of male leaders – rather than the actions of feminist women – as the means to improve women's lives. What has changed since the 1970s, however, are his views on religious leaders. While in the White House he courted the support of evangelicals, despite their opposition to the Equal Rights Amendment and other feminist policies; in the intervening years he has come to view conservative religious leaders as barriers to women's rights.
