He faces a fi tness test this week, but he’s likely to be available to take on Gold Coast this round. ANDY OTTEN (Def) $227,400 Over 22,000 coaches dumped Otten last week and justifi ably so. He listed as indefi nite on the club’s offi cial injury list, which suggest he isn’t going to play anytime soon. ADELAIDE CROWS CHRIS KNIGHTS (Fwd) $262,800 Knights returned to the line up last week against Port Adelaide and was one of Adelaide’s best, finishing with 106 points. He gathered a team-high 31 disposals and 10 marks, while also pumping the ball inside 50 on five occasions. BERNIE VINCE (Mid) $378,200 Vince’s tally of 125 points last week against Port Adelaide was only the fourth time this season he has exceeded the 100 point mark. He looks to provide great value at that price, and with games against Brisbane, Gold Coast and Richmond to come, he could pull out some huge scores. • Disposals Per Minute Bench Will Be Critical in 2011
CHAMPION/DATA/ISSUE 1 The wait is over! Hi and welcome to the first edition of the Fantasy Freako’s pre-season rave for 2011. This year promises to be like no other, with the addition of a 17th AFL side making the competition as unpredictable as ever. With bigger squad sizes, two more rounds and bye(s) thrown into the mix, it will be more about strategy than anything this year. Enjoy this week’s read and as an added bonus in 2011, you can follow me on twitter. Get exclusive AFL Dream Team information from the NAB challenge games live and post game. Also lookout for Freako’s radar where each week I will highlight which players I am keeping a close eye on. These can easily be identified by a radar symbol next to their name. Take note also, Round 1 scores have not been included due to the revised NAB Cup format. BENCH WILL BE CRITICAL IN 2011 The importance of nailing your bench this year cannot be underestimated. Unlike previous years when we only used emergencies in case of injury or a late change, in 2011 they will be active for us most weeks. The introduction of bye(s) may cause mayhem for some, but remember that there will be no head- to-head league games during the multi-team round byes in Rounds 4, 5, 6, 16 and 19. There are a plethora of bench options this year, with the Gold Coast Suns providing us with some great buys in every position. Youngster Alik Magin has been a standout so far, but he’s currently on the rookie list and unless he gets upgraded anytime soon, he won’t be eligible to play in Round 1.

  • Fantasy Freako Nabrd3
CHAMPION/DATA/ISSUE 2 Hi and welcome to the second edition of the Fantasy Freako’s Pre-Season rave. I’m sure that we’re all looking forward to the NAB Cup Grand Final this week between Collingwood and Essendon, but our focus will also be on the NAB Challenge games. With most teams fielding their strongest side of the pre-season this week, it will be a good indication of where some of the player’s are at. Keep track of who get games this week, as they will more than likely be in the mix for Round 1. Just a reminder about next week’s rave, you can expect to receive it on Thursday due to the public holiday in Victoria. Even the Freako deserves a day off like everyone else. Enjoy this week’s read and don’t forget to follow me @FantasyFreako on Twitter. Get exclusive AFL Dream Team information from the NAB challenge games live and post game. MPP (MULTI POSITION PLAYERS) There will be a greater reliance on multi position players (MPP) this year as we look to cover those dreaded donuts during bye(s) rounds. Regardless of what approach you take, it’s inevitable that you will be stretched at stages during the year. Selecting the right MPP will have its rewards, but you have to do it correctly to reap the full benefits. For example, it’s no point having Goddard, Gilbee and Deledio all as defenders, if you don’t have a MPP in the midfield that you can swap them around with.
