The relationship National Grid has with grantors is something we treasure and constantly strive to improve upon, as new CEO John Pettigrew explains in an interview on page 9 and at gridline.nationalgrid.com This autumn, in a project led by James Dean, land offi cer north-west & Scotland, we will be contacting grantors with underground electric cables on their land as part of a nationwide initiative to make sure we have correct land ownership details and to share essential safety information. We operate 1,400km of underground electric cables in the UK, often in built-up urban areas where space is at a premium 12 and in protected landscapes or sensitive habitats where they are sometimes chosen because of their reduced visual impact compared to overhead power lines. It’s vital our records are up to date so we can contact landowners and occupiers quickly when we need to carry out maintenance or repair. We’ll also be taking the opportunity to remind people about essential safety advice, and about the processes they should follow if considering any work in the vicinity of underground cables. WHAT A BUSY JUNE OTTERPOOL PARK / STANFORD LORRY HOLDING AREA PROTEST MARCH It all started on the afternoon of Saturday June 4th where villagers from Sellindge, Lympne, Monks Horton and Stanford, went on a Protest March, against the decision of Shepway District Council to express an interest for the Government’s Garden Town initiative. If successful then Otterpool Park Garden Town with 12,000 homes could be built on land between Sellindge, Lympne and Stanford. The Protesters left the Village Hall at around 2pm, and made their way up Barrow Hill towards the Airport Café. At the same time another group of protesters set of from Newingreen towards the Airport Café. Once both Protest Marches reached the Airport Café a rally was held with various speakers addressed the crowd of between 300 and 400 protesters. CELEBRATION OF THE QUEENS 90th BIRTHDAY THE KINGS AND QUEENS CAR PARK PARTY The following Saturday June 11th, there was a party atmosphere at the Village Hall, when more than 140 Sellindge residents attended the Kings and Queens Car Park party.     4-H PORK PRODUCTION MANUAL This publication, the record sheet and other sheets all are intended to help the 4-H member succeed in the 4-H Swine Project. The best way to learn is by doing -- especially by working with your family, your 4-H swine project leader, other 4-H swine project members, and your local swine producers and Cooperative Extension Agents. In the process of managing your project, you will also be completing an educational goal. It is important to learn to take the responsibility that goes with managing your project. The New York State Swine programs consist of the Empire Market Hog program, the breeding program and a variety of educational and competitive activities. All 4-H swine projects can be completed at county level and at the New York State Fair. Members wishing to enroll in any of these activities should notify their County Cooperative Extension 4-H agent of their interest. A variety of educational materials will then be supplied. The Empire Market Hog Contest will be conducted during the New York State Fair as a part of the 4-H Swine Show. Members may enter either the “A” Division or the “B” Division.
