COLLEGE WORLD SERIES QUALIFER TOURNAMENT JUNIOR COLLEGE BASEBALL – NJCAA REGION 4 CHAMPIONSHIPS DIVISION II AND III – MAY 15 – 17, 2015 SCHAUMBURG BOOMERS STADIUM, SCHAUMBURG, IL

Welcome to:

THE JUNIOR COLLEGE WORLD SERIES QUALIFIER TOURNAMENT

NJCAA REGION 4, Division II and III CHAMPIONSHIPS

On behalf of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 4 (Northern and Southern Wisconsin) we welcome you to Schaumburg Boomers Stadium for this competitive event. This is the second annual Regional Baseball Championships in NJCAA Region 4, Divisions II and III, being played in a first-class stadium atmosphere, befitting a National Championship Qualifying Event.

The quality of the baseball programs, in NJCAA Region 4, is competitive and of an extremely high caliber. We congratulate the four Division II and two Division III teams that qualified for this Championship Finals Event, through their Sectional Tournament victories. The Division II and III Champions this weekend qualify for the NJCAA National Tournaments.

Region IV Baseball would like to recognize one member of the baseball coaching fraternity. Joliet Junior College Head Coach Wayne L. King, Jr. recently earned his 1,000th career victory. On April 19, the Wolves defeated N4C conference opponent Milwaukee Area Technical College by a score of 11-3 to claim King’s 1,000 career win. King, who is in his 29th season at the helm, is one of the most decorated coaches in the history of JJC. During King’s tenure, he has guided his teams to three NJCAA national championships (1994, 2008, 2012), two national runner-up finishes (1995, 2007), and two third place finishes (1997, 2006). He has made 11 total NJCAA World Series appearances, has earned 15 Region IV Division III championships, and claimed 7 North Central Community College Conference (N4C) titles.

We extend a special welcome to the players, coaches, staff members, families, friends, spectators, senior college coaches and professional scouts in attendance today. We would also like to thank the event planning committee and the many community college staff members who are filling vital roles in the conducting and administration of this premier sporting event.

We ask that each fan exhibit a high degree of sportsmanship and positive encouragement for the team that you are supporting and interact appropriately, in a spirit of friendly competition, with fans of the opposing team. We request assistance with the return of all foul balls to the dugout area nearest to your seat location. Please be visually alert and aware of all foul balls hit into the stands, as the safety of all spectators is of primary importance and concern to all of us.

Finally, we would like to extend a special thank you to the Schaumburg Boomers for their interest, support and cooperation in making their fine facility available for this collegiate baseball tournament event. Thank you for your attendance and we are looking forward to a great weekend of competitive and exciting NJCAA Region IV Championship baseball.
