TAIWAN- ROC 中華民國 Mission on Advanced Technical and Functional Textiles October 7th to 10th 2019 GDP 2018 = 589 billions USD Textile production 9 billions USD in 2017 Fibre production : 3 billions USD in 2017 Developped and vertically integrated textile companies Focus on functional textiles (70% of the global market) and smart textiles Sustainability : 50% of the fabric material is recycled Gate to China, Vietnam, HK, Indonesia and USA OBJECTIVES OF THE MISSION The mission consists in meetings with relevant Taiwanese stakeholders in the technical textile and functional textile sectors as well as in exhibiting on a booth at TITAS show in Taipei. During the mission, several activities will be carried out by EU-TEXTILE2030 partners such as visit to the fair TITAS, visits to research facilities, meetings with companies and relevant stakeholders. The objectives are : 1. To promote research activities in Europe related to advanced technical textile materials to Taiwanese companies and research centers. 2. To establish technological partnerships between research institutes/technological centers. 3. To establish collaboration partnerships between Japanese and EU companies: both for commercial or technological purposes. 4. To open new markets for European SMEs. PARTICIPANTS Cluster’s managers from EU-TEXTILE2030 and clusters’ members (SMEs or Research centers). There will be 350 exhibitors with more than 700 booths from all over the world to gather in the professional trade show. This year's TITAS is all about Sustainable, Smart and Functional Textiles, with the focus on: ●Sustainability – cutting down resource usage and optimizing manufacturing efficiency to achieve zero discharge of hazardous substances by adopting eco-friendly materials and processes ●Smart textiles – combining cloud computing and advanced communication technology to provide wearable technology that is fashionable and comfortable ●Functional applications – applying multifunctional textiles to a new lifestyle across sports, outdoor, fashion, fitness and wellness ●Smart Manufacturing has utilized Industry 4.0 high-end technology production processes to automate the work of sewing ready-to-wear clothing, and used the smart applications of the Internet, electronic business services and mobile apps to improve overall efficiency. ABOUT EU TEXTILE 2030 EU-TEXTILE2030 is a consortium of 7 partners: European clusters of advanced textile materials in Spain, France, Italy, Czech Republic and Germany and associated partners from other countries such as Portugal. The activities which will be carried out are co-funded by the EU programme COSME – Clusters go to international. These activities include: 4 business trips to Colombia, South Africa, Israel and Japan/Taiwan; participation at 2 international fairs with a joint booth; creation of a EU association of advanced textile materials’ clusters and the definition of its strategy in order to assure the continuation of the joint activities of the clusters.
