The selection of students for admission to undergraduate courses in the universities is a task assigned to the University Grants Commission (UGC) under the said Act. The UGC carries out this task in consultation with the Universities /Campuses /Institutes. 1.2 The UGC selects students for admission to undergraduate courses in the following Higher Educational Institutions [sixteen (16) National Universities, two (2) Campuses and four (04) Institutes] which have been set up under the Universities Act; University of Colombo University of Peradeniya University of Sri Jayewardenepura University of Kelaniya University of Moratuwa University of Jaffna University of Ruhuna Eastern University, Sri Lanka South Eastern University of Sri Lanka Rajarata University of Sri Lanka Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka Wayamba University of Sri Lanka Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka University of the Visual & Performing Arts The Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine, Sri Lanka University of Vavuniya, Sri Lanka Sripalee Campus, University of Colombo Trincomalee Campus, Eastern University, Sri Lanka Institute of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo University of Colombo School of Computing Swami Vipulananda Institute of Aesthetic Studies, Eastern University, Sri Lanka Ramanathan Academy of Fine Arts, University of Jaffna 1.3 This Handbook describes the selection procedure for students with foreign qualifications to undergraduate courses of the Higher Educational Institutions mentioned above. Methodology: The study is quantitative and explanatory by nature and it applied the deductive method and questionnaire survey strategy. The study conducted with minimum interference of researcher and individual academics is the unit of analysis. The types of knowledge interaction, university-industry knowledge exchange, and institutional factors were the independent, dependent and moderating variables respectively. A Structural Equation Model is deployed on collected data to explore the moderating impact of the institutional factor on the university-industry knowledge exchange. Implications: It implies that the level of joint, contract research activities, human resource mobility, and training of academic staff are largely wider on the conducive environment and sophisticated facilities of the university.

Candidates are informed that it is compulsory to apply for university admission online. Minimum Requirements for University Admission Candidates who are pronounced eligible for university admission by the Commissioner General of Examinations should have obtained; (a) At least ‘S’ grades in all three approved subjects in one sitting, within a maximum of three (03) attempts. (b) A minimum mark of 30% for the Common General Paper. Note 1: Candidates who have not obtained 30% or above for the common general paper are not eligible for registration for the courses of study of the universities for which they have been selected based on the Z Score in the current academic year. If such a candidate has obtained a minimum of 30% for the common general paper in a previous attempt within three attempts allowed for university admission, the previous achievement can be considered. Candidates who have not obtained a minimum of 30% shall re-sit and obtain a minimum of 30% for the common general paper in a next available year within three attempts allowed for university admission, to be eligible to get registered for the courses of study of the universities for which the candidates have already been selected based on Z Score, in a future academic year.
