International Guitar Stars As Members of the Curatorship of the Herrmann Hauser Guitar Foundation
INTERNATIONAL GUITAR STARS AS MEMBERS OF THE CURATORSHIP OF THE HERRMANN HAUSER GUITAR FOUNDATION PERSONAL REACTIONS TO THE WEB-SITE WWW.HAUSERGUITARS.COM AND TO THE PROCLAMATION OF THE HERRMANN HAUSER GUITAR FOUNDATION SURVEY OF COUNTRIES OF THE VISITORS OF THE WEB-SITE WWW.HAUSERGUITARS.COM INTERNATIONAL GUITAR STARS AS MEMBERS OF THE CURATORSHIP OF THE HERRMANN HAUSER GUITAR FOUNDATION Pepe Romero Guitarist Pepe Romero, celebrated worldwide for his exciting interpretations and his flawless technique, is permanently asked for as a solo guitar player and as a guitarist with orchestra. His contributions to the area of classical guitar have inspired a couple of reputable composers to write music especially for him, including Joaquín Rodrigo, Federico Moreno Torroba, Rev. Francisco de Madina, Lorenzo Palomo and Celedonio Romero. Born on March 8, 1944 in Malaga, Spain, Pepe Romero is the second son of the "Royal Guitar Family", the Romeros. His father, legendary Celedonio Romero, was his only guitar teacher. His first professional performance was a concert he played together with his father. He was only seven years old then. On his current record, Songs My Father Taught Me, he plays his father´s favorite compositions. Shortly, several Boccherini Quintets for guitar and string quartet, recorded for UNICEF, will be released. A new transcription for guitar of the Música nocturna de Madrid will be amongst them. One of his last solo recordings is a brilliant performance of opera phantasies for guitar. A recording with „I Musici“ was finished in summer 1991, and in spring 1992 he recorded Concierto de Aranjuez and selected pieces of music of Joaquín Rodrigo to laser disc, together with Neville Marriner and the Academy-of-St.-Martin-in-the-Fields. -

Fingerstyle 101.Pdf
3/15/2010 Fingerstyle 101 What Is Fingerstyle? Ok. First things first. If you have a pick anywhere NEAR your computer, hide it! Fingerstyle guitar is the technique of playing the guitar by plucking the strings directly with the fingertips, fingernails, or picks attached to fingers, as opposed to flatpicking (picking individual notes with a single plectrum called a flatpick) or strumming all the strings of the instrument in chords. The term is often used synonymously with fingerpicking. Music arranged for fingerstyle playing can include chords, arpeggios and other elements such as artificial harmonics, hammering on and pulling off with the fretting hand, using the body of the guitar percussively, and many other techniques. Physically, “Fingerstyle” refers to using each of the right (or left) hand fingers independently in order to play the multiple parts of a musical arrangement that would normally be played by several band members. Bass, harmonic accompaniment, melody, and percussion can all be played simultaneously when playing Fingerstyle. Since this course will cover not only HOW you can incorporate fingerstyle into your guitar playing, but more importantly...how you will develop ground-breaking skills as a fingerstyle guitar player, we must cover some basic material before getting too far ahead in the course. Fingerstyle Vs. Flatpicking There is a major difference between using your fingers to pick and using an actual plectrum (pick) for many reasons. Though many artists will employ the usage of both, which we'll get into later on in this program, the idea here is to forget that you've ever even learned to use a pick when playing fingerstyle guitar. -

ACG-Presents-Pepe-Romero-Sept-26-2020-Concert-Program.Pdf
AN ACG STORY Our blog is overflowing with beautiful stories, videos, and insights. We include one in every virtual concert program, but if you’d like to read more, or see the videos they mention, just visit AustinClassicalGuitar.org. Here’s tonight’s story... Our 30th season begins. Ever since his standing-room-only, sold-out, people-in-the- hallways, first performance for ACG on Friday, October 10th, 2003 at the Unitarian Church, guitar legend Pepe Romero has been a huge part of Austin Classical Guitar. He has lifted us over the years with his music, with his stories, with his generosity, and his deep, spiritual presence. Los Romeros’ Father’s Day concert in 2006 marked the beginning of our summer ensemble programming. When we hosted the Guitar Foundation of America and produced sixty five events in six days at the Long Center, the week began with Pepe’s solo recital to a sold-out crowd in Dell Hall, introduced by the UT System Chancellor Dr. Francisco Cigarroa, and live-broadcast by KMFA. It’s because of this deep connection, that we couldn’t imagine anyone else opening our 30th year. One of our warmest memories was made on October 13th, 2016, when Pepe graciously agreed to perform and record Vivaldi’s Concerto in D Major with over 80 of our high school students from all around Austin. (video on our website) Rey Rodriguez, a student who we met in our local school programs Bedichek Middle School under the direction of Phil Swasey, and Crockett High School under the direction of Ron Hare, was part of the performance in 2016. -
