OTTRINGHAM PLAYING FIELD COMMITTEE UPDATE

We are delighted to announce that a new 25 metre zip line (designed for 8-16 year olds) has arrived and is being installed on the Ottringham playing field (w/c 12 and 19 March).

Many thanks to the Big Lottery Fund (Awards4All scheme) for giving us £10,000 to buy this play equipment. We hope the older children of the village like and enjoy the play equipment. It will certainly be fun and challenging!

We were also successful in securing £965 from the East Riding of Council’s Active Creative Grant Scheme in December to refurbish our old climbing frame and swing, which we hope to complete in April, in time for summer.

If you would like to donate or contribute in some way to the Playing Field developments, then please get in touch. Please email: [email protected] or Tel: 07835 369934. Follow us on Twitter @Ottyplayfield

COUNTRY SAYINGS (from Salt of the Earth, National Trust)

April Weather Notorious for its April showers, the weather in April is seen by many as an indication of what the weather will be like later in the summer. According to weather lore, thunder in April is generally regarded as beneficial for farmers.

If it thunders on All Fools Day It brings good crops of grass and hay

When April blows his horn ‘Tis good for hay and corn

A cold April and a full barn or: A cold April, the barn will fill

Does anyone else have any old sayings they would like to share with us?
