COUGARS COACHING STAFF

Head Coach Shawn Sky th (15 Year)

Men's Volleyball Head Coach Shawn Sky came to Mount Royal in 2004 after spending two seasons at the helm of the Grant MacEwan Griffins in the ACAC. Since taking over the Mount Royal program, coach Sky has had no shortage of success.

During ACAC competition, Sky led the Cougars to two conference championships, two CCAA National Bronze medals and in 2008, a CCAA National Championship. Individually, he was named the ACAC Coach of the Year in 2010. Since moving from the ACAC to Canada West the Cougars have remained competitive in what is often referred to as the hardest conference in the nation. In 2015-16, the Cougars making the playoffs for the first time since entering Canada West.

Shawn stresses building citizens in his program. Many players speak of how much he has mentored them not only on the court but in life as well. His approach has certainly paid off as a number of his players have soared to great heights including the FISU games, and at the provincial and national level. Shawn has also guided a number of players, such as former captain’s Colton de Man and Jordan Or, to the National Team Training Centre which usually sets his athletes up for professional contracts.
