Abstract Floristic composition, abundance, richness and many other ecological patterns of phytoplankton and phytoperiphyton were studied in the Madeira River basin, between the Abunã River and Porto Velho City (Rondônia - Brazil), taking into account the hydrological period of the region. The results were correlated with abiotic factors, + + 2+ 2+ - 3- including the nutrients Na , K , Ca , Mg , N-NO3 , P-PO4 and chlorophyll-a. 283 taxa on the Madeira River and 327 taxa in the tributaries were identified belonging to six divisions and nine taxonomic classes. It was observed a considerable complexity in floristic composition, with a greater contribution from the division Chlorophyta, especially during the high water periods, when there was greater species richness recorded. Ecological indexes and statistical analysis confirmed strong seasonal pattern and differentiation between the species present in the white and clear waters. Email: [email protected] Resumen: La necesidad de energía obliga a los países a reflexionar sobre las formas de obtener este recurso más limpio y más barato. Como alternativa a esto se promueven intentos de integración entre los diferentes países. El Complejo Madeira tiene un gran potencial para la producción de energía hidroeléctrica, como resultado de caídas y rápido flujo de agua en los afluentes del río Madeira, en especial el río Beni, donde se planea construir una central hidroeléctrica en Cachuela Esperanza, como resultado de la alianza entre Brasil y Bolivia. El proyecto hidroeléctrico está rodeado por controversias y afecta la imagen de Brasil pues éste puede ser conside- rado como un país oportunista, ya que la mayoría de los impactos negativos de la construcción no se exportarán, y el país se beneficiará de la venta de energía a bajo costo por Bolivia. (map 1, No. 2 ; map 4). The chronicles of the Conquest, the official documents and reports of local authorities, and later the letters and accounts of the Jesuits teem with names of tribes and subtribes, but seldom mention their linguistic affiliation and even their location. From the beginning of the Conquest, the Indians of the area just defined have been called Chiquito, "the small ones," irrespective of their linguistic family or culture. -

In this work, we present the correlation between climatic variables and hospitalizations for mycoses in Brazilian state capitals, evaluating the period of 2008 to 2016 at diferent time scales. The results indicate that climate modulates the hospitalizations for mycoses diferently at annual and monthly time scales, with minimum temperature as a key climatic variable during periods of high prevalence in the 10 Brazilian capitals with the highest hospitalizations for mycoses rates. The greatest number of hospitalizations coincided with La Niña events, while a reduction was observed during El Niño events, thereby demonstrating the infuence of the Pacifc Interdecadal Climate Oscillation on the prevalence of mycoses in Brazil. At a regional scale, the mycoses burden in Brazil appears to respond diferently to local and global climatic drivers. Mycoses are neglected, under-diagnosed, and sub-estimated diseases, that represent an important public health problem, yet they are not compulsorily notifable diseases in Brazil. Since pathogenic fungi causing systemic mycoses are found in the environment, we hypothesised that outbreaks would be afected by geoclimatic fac- tors such as wind, precipitation, air temperature, and absolute and relative air humidity.
