The estimates were prepared, awaiting a view, in hopes they would be jobs, before they were due.

The presses were cleaned, all shiny and bright, with visions of colors and densities just right. Folders and stitchers sit waiting a task, with hopes of long runs, executed as asked.

The files they lay on desks and in racks, the jobs just waiting for clients to get back. When out in the lot there arose such a clatter, the neighbors came out to see what was the matter.

When what to their wondering eyes did they see? But a group of small elves going in, one, two, three. We admit with a smile and a slight rosy tint, the secret we have kept, of our fast timely print.

A group dedicated to us, and of course then to you, who work like a flash, with a smile; who knew? The work it flies from station to station, and into a box, the van, to you, or the nation.

With the wink of an eye and a cheery warm smile, we appreciate you — so we go the extra mile. So from Santa and all of our elves, we wish you the best, and hope that this Christmas your family is blessed.

Merry Christmas!

CHN_NutcrackerProg.indd 1 12/2/15 4:40 PM Nutcracker Synopsis It is Christmas Eve and the Stahlbaums are hosting a grand party at their beautiful Victorian mansion. The children, Clara and her little brother Fritz, are celebrating with their parents, family and friends. While gifts are being distributed to the children, Clara’s mysterious godfather, Herr Drosselmeyer, arrives. He astonishes the guests with a magic show performing all sorts of tricks, even bringing mechanical dolls to life. Drosselmeyer produces a beautiful Nutcracker and hands it to Clara. Overwhelmed with joy, she graciously accepts the gift and begins dancing around the room with it, while Fritz becomes jealous of Clara’s new toy. Fritz grabs the Nutcracker from Clara and breaks it. Devastated, Clara begins to cry, but miraculously, Drosselmeyer restores the doll to perfect condition. As the evening’s festivities come to an end, Clara is sent to bed, but she is unable to go to sleep. Clara then returns to the parlor to look for her beloved Nutcracker and falls into a deep slumber on the sofa. When the clock strikes midnight, she is suddenly awakened by the pitter-patter of mice crawling on the floor. As she flees from the mice chasing her, Drosselmeyer reappears casting spells that make the Stahlbaums’ Christmas tree grow to majestic heights, and brings the Nutcracker and his army of toy soldiers to life. While the mice and toy soldiers battle, the Nutcracker and Mouse Queen duel fiercely. Clara then throws her shoe as hard as she can at the Mouse Queen, distracting her from the Nutcracker’s fatal blow. As the mourning mice carry their leader off with them, Drosselmeyer magically transforms the Nutcracker into the handsome Snow King. Then the Snow King introduces the exquisite Snow Queen and the dancing snowflakes to Clara and Drosselmeyer guiding them through the glittering night sky to the Land of the Sweets. When they arrive, they are greeted by the Sugar Plum Fairy and are treated to a spectacular festival of colorful dances. Clara cannot believe the amazing characters, sights and sounds swirling around her. Can all these wondrous events truly be happening, or is she in the midst of an incredible dream... The Morris-Butler House As the curtain goes up, the scene opens outside the Stahlbaum’s home, just before their festive holiday party. This uniquely Indianapolis setting is based on the Victorian façade and parlor of the Morris-Butler House. Scenic Designer David Higgins has recreated a winter evening on Park Avenue and stunning details of the parlor. Artist Judith Peters has recreated the Christmas tree using holiday pictures of the restored Victorian home.

The Morris-Butler House, a brick Second-Empire residence in the Old Northside neighborhood, takes its name from the two families who once lived there. In 1864 John Morris, the son of one of Indianapolis’ first settlers, co missioned the construction of this house. John and his family lived in the house from 1865 to 1878. Three years passed before Noble Butler, a renowned bankruptcy lawyer, moved into the house with his wife and seven children. Members of the Butler family occupied the house until 1957. Indiana Landmarks bought the house in 1964, restored it with funds provided by Eli Lilly, and opened the house as a museum in 1969. The year 2013 heralded a new direction for the house which now offers special events, rentals, and vibrant experiences for guests.
