Oakland Schools is one of 57 intermediate school districts (ISDs) established in Michigan in 1962. ISDs are regional service agencies that offer support services to school personnel that are best delivered regionally, as measured by cost, size and quality advantages. Oakland Schools is an autonomous, tax-supported public school district governed by Michigan General School Laws.

The mission of Michigan’s educational service agencies (ISDs, RESAs, RESDs) is to provide visionary leadership and quality services to strengthen teaching and learning for all citizens.

Oakland Schools provides comprehensive support, consultation and professional development to Oakland County school districts striving to improve student achievement. We focus on meeting our customers’ needs while also assisting them in meeting and exceeding mandates and compliance issues. Everything a district needs – from up-to-date professional development for educators, to on-site consulting, and help with school improvement and curriculum; to management software, food service support and testing of students with special needs – Oakland Schools strives to provide the services necessary for schools to function at their best.
