Drug Facts Week Message Timely with Death of Amy Winehouse Details Created on Friday, 23 December 2011 11:52 Amy Winehouse, the former Grammy award-winning artist who had a very public battle with substance use disorder and her use of several illicit and licit substances, died in July of this year. Last week, however, the long awaited cause of Amy Winehouse's death was disclosed at a coroner's court in London. The findings show that Amy had died from her use of alcohol, not from the illicit substances which were the focus of much media attention. Her tragic and unfortunate loss serves to educate us that there is no "safe drug". Every time someone takes an addictive substance whether it be alcohol or cocaine, tobacco or ecstasy, there are significant risks that need to be understood. Unfortunately, our society has focused its attention in regards to the dangers of addiction according to cultural misperceptions. This non-scientific view has allowed for the de- sensitization of the real dangers of legal drugs such as alcohol and tobacco, or prescription drugs which as a result of being improperly used is resulting in an alarming rise in the use of opiates. Seeking to spread the message that all drugs carry risks and are harmful to the body, President Obama's Administration for the second year in a row is holding "Drug Facts Week" from October 31st through November 6th. The weeklong event will seek to connect teens with scientifically proven facts about drugs and substance use disorder. Last year's successful Drug Facts Week saw over 100 community events and discussions between teens and scientists. -

Masterprüfung Musik Amy Winehouse Dino Christen Noemi Hess SR 12 Herbst 2016 Abstract Die vorliegende Arbeit zum Thema Amy Winehouse wurde an der PH Luzern als Masterabschlussarbeit des Faches Musik verfasst. Die Arbeit thematisiert die Musik und Person von Amy Winehouse und geht dabei näher auf die Stilrichtung Soul, insbesondere den Motown-Sound ein. Die Arbeit ist in einen theoretisch-fachlichen Teil und einen praktisch-didaktischen Teil gegliedert. Dabei wird im ersten Teil in einer Sachanalyse auf die Biographie von Amy Winehouse eingegangen. Themen wie ihre Kindheit, musikalische Vorbilder bis hin zu Liebe, Drogensucht und Druck der Medien werden darge- legt. Zudem kommt eine Auseinandersetzung mit der Stilrichtung Soul, in welcher sich Amys Musik haupt- sächlich bewegt. Im didaktischen zweiten Teil wird in einer Begründungsanalyse auf die Bedeutung des Themas Amy Winehouse im Musikunterricht eingegangen. Dabei fliessen Vorgaben des aktuellen Lehrplans und die Ori- entierung an der Sekundarstufe mit ein. Aus der fachlichen und fachdidaktischen Auseinandersetzung wurde ein Ideenpool mit möglichen Unter- richtsideen hergeleitet. Daraus entstanden für die Umsetzung zwei schulpraktische Leadsheets, ein Arran- gement und eine Bewegungsanleitung. Zusätzlich werden vier Unterrichtsmaterialien mit konkreten Ar- beitsblättern und Lösungen zur Verfügung gestellt. Die Materialien zur praktischen Anwendung werden mit Hintergrundwissen zu den Songs und didaktischen Kommentaren für die Lehrperson eingeführt. Abschliessend ist eine Sammlung von -

NORTHERN COUNTIES REVEALED AS OPIOID PRESCRIBING HOTSPOTS Submitted by: M&F Health Communications Ltd Tuesday, 29 September 2020 * Experts fear potential for further increase in prescribing rates and addiction levels as COVID measures take their toll * New UK poll shows that 23% of people either started taking or increased substance use due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic * Global Recovery Initiatives Foundation and Amy Winehouse Foundation join forces on SNO BABIES film to support UK recovery London, UK, 29th September 2020 - Opioid prescribing* 'hotspots' revealed today as new 2019/20 data analysed for the Global Recovery Initiatives Foundation shows that prescriptions of these addictive painkillers were double the national average. These include areas in the North-East - County Durham, Cleveland, Tyne And Wear and Northumberland. The analysis uncovered a worrying reverse from previous declining rates despite an increase in government regulation. At a national level there was a 1% increase in opioid prescribing during the COVID-19 lockdown period (March to June 2020 vs the same period in 2019) across the UK. Some areas saw a more dramatic shift - in Greater London and Nottinghamshire for example, the lockdown period resulted in a 4% increase in opioid prescriptions. This has prompted experts to speculate that COVID-19 lockdown measures could increase overall prescription and general drug use, particularly in prescribing hotspots. New data from a UK poll also shows 23% of people either started taking or increased substance use (such as prescription drugs like as opioids, alcohol and illegal drugs such as cocaine) due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. -

As time progresses and success tsunamis her way, the natural arch of her life, however fast-lived, gains a clearer context, as does her untimely death.
