Various television and radio programming undertakings – Administrative renewals

1. The Commission renews the broadcasting licences for the television and radio programming undertakings set out in Appendices 1 and 2 to this decision from 1 September 2019 to 31 August 2020, subject to the terms and conditions in effect under the current licences. The Commission also extends the distribution orders for the television programming undertakings CBC News Network, ICI RDI and ICI ARTV until 31 August 2020.

2. The term of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s (CBC) new President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) began in July 2018. This decision will afford the new President and CEO and the board of directors the opportunity to examine the CBC’s ongoing strategies so as to participate more effectively in the licence renewal process.

3. This decision does not dispose of any issue that may arise with respect to the renewal of these licences. The Commission will consider the renewal of these licences at a later date, and interested persons will have an opportunity to comment at the appropriate time.
