Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation ***** PRESS RELEASE the National Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Awareness Week Ha Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation ***** PRESS RELEASE The National Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Awareness Week has started across the country from today i.e. 16th March, 2015 and will conclude at Kohima (Nagaland) on 22nd March, 2015 commemorating the celebration of World Water Day. During this week long campaign, there will be an extensive awareness drive on construction and use of household toilets, keeping the villages clean, safe handling and use of drinking water, awareness of quality of drinking water, water conservation, community managed water supply systems in rural areas involving grassroot level institutions like Village Water and Sanitation Committees, Panchayati Raj Institutions, Angwanwadi , ASHA Workers, schools teachers, Women Self Help Groups, Youth Clubs etc. 2. The inaugural function was launched by Shri Birender Singh, Hon’ble Minister of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water & Sanitation, Government of India in the presence of Shri Ram Kripal Yadav, Hon’ble Minister of State, Ministry of Drinking Water & Sanitation, GoI and Rao Narbir Singh, Hon’ble Minister, Public Health Engineering and Public Works Department, Govt. of Haryana today at Village Kankrola-Bhanglora, District Gurgaon (Haryana). About five thousand people attended this function. Hon’ble Minister laid stress on building and use of toilets. Other speakers also emphasized on sanitation and judicious use of water. Senior officers of the Ministry of Drinking Water & Sanitation were also present on this occasion. On this occasion, ten Swachhata Raths were dispatched to different parts of the district/ state to create awareness among the rural masses. This programme is being carried out across the country in all panchayats involving Ministries of Rural Development, Health & Family Welfare, Panchayati Raj, Women and Child Development etc. .

A competition in terms of maintaining sanitation will be organized among villages of the state. Mr Manohar Lal was addressing a function in Gurgaon, organized to unveil first of phase of free wi-fi zones and launch of green Gurgaon Campaign. With unveiling of first phase, four locations of Gurgaon city have got free wi-fi facility. These are Sadar Bazar, Village Sarhaul, Leisure Valley park area of Sector 29 and MG road. This facility is being provided by MCG with support of Airtel. Addressing on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that Gurgaon is Icon of Haryana and for developing this city into a Super Smart City, such facilities are required. He said that with free wi-fi facility one can avail e-services at his home. He congratulated Bharti Airtel for initiating this service and said that it should extend this free wi-fi facility to other big cities of the state like Faridabad, Panipat, Rohtak, Panchkula, Hisar and Karnal etc. Giving presentation on how the free wi-fi facility will work, the CEO of Airtel Delhi NCR Dhruv Bhagat said that the wi-fi is open to all users provided they have compatible device. A user has to just enable wi-fi in his device settings and search for ‘MCG powered by Airtel’. Users will be able to enjoy a free daily quota limit of 30 minutes per day per device.

He said that an amount of Rs 373.75 lakh has been approved for improvement of link road Badyal to Nimbwala in district Panchkula. In district Yamunanagar, while Rs 90.65 lakh has been approved for improvement of Jagadhri workshop road, Rs 27.03 lakh has been approved for improvement of Chhachhrauli Paonta road to Rayanwala, Rs 300.25 lakh for improvement of road from Tajewala to Headwork, Rs 822.17 lakh for improvement of road from widening and strengthening of Jagadhri-Bari-Pabni road, Rs 932.63 lakh for improvement of Buria-Khadri-Deodhar road, Rs 479.12 lakh for improvement of Jagadhri-Buria-Deodhar road and Rs 90.58 lakh for widening of Yamunanagar bye pass road to Ratauli. He said that similarly, in district Ambala, a sum of Rs 64.95 lakh has been approved for the improvement of link road from Ambala-Baraula road to Tharwa whereas, Rs 103.66 lakh has been approved for the improvement of Bara to Babaheri road, Rs 61.48 lakh for improvement of link road from Ambala Cantt.
