In a statement issued here today, the Minister said that with a view to provide affordable air travel facility to people, the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi had launched UDAN Scheme to increase regional air connectivity. He said that the Hisar airport has been linked with this scheme. The Hisar airport would be first licensed airport of the state. He said that the Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal would inaugurate the airport on August 15 and the same day the air services from Hisar to Chandigarh and Delhi would be started. The Minister said that in order to avail the maximum benefit of increasing opportunities in civil aviation sector, the government has decided to expand the existing air strips at five airports in the state. He said that four air strips at Karnal, Pinjore, Bhiwani and Narnaul would be expanded up to 5,000 feet so that medium sized planes could be provided the facility of parking, sub-basing, flying training alongwith other several activities. For this, the Department had already got published Expression of Interest. Rao Narbir Singh said that the air strips would be further extended up to 9,000 feet by the end of next year for betting landing facilities. Under this second phase, facilities such as parking, basing and Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) would be made available. DEVELOPMENT OF INTERNATIONAL AVIATION HUB AT HISAR The Haryana Government is having basic infrastructure at Hisar which can be used for development of an Integrated Aviation Hub which aims to capture both, short, medium and long term opportunities arising out of a booming aviation sector in India. Existing Infrastructure – Government owned land - 4,200 acres adjoining the Hisar airfield Airstrip (4000*150 feet) Hangars, terminal building and compound wall Operational Flying Club i. In furtherance to this objective, the State Government engaged an international consultant, M/s Frost and Sullivan in March 2016, to have conduct a feasibility study regarding development of an Integrated Aviation Hub including an International Airport at Hisar. The feasibility study has been completed and has indicated a strong viability for the project. ii. The state government floated an EOI in 17.02.2017 and held a meeting was held with interested developers to gauge interest and feedback on 10th March 2017. Top airport & infrastructure developers including GMR, GVK and Essel Infra, Bird Group, L&T, BAPL have expressed interest in the project. iii. State Government has decided that the existing Hisar airport would be upgraded into an Integrated Aviation Hub in three phases as under: a. Phase - I Domestic Airport under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) b. Phase - II Small scale MRO Fixed base operations (FBO) Defence Manufacturing and Defence MRO c. Phase - III Aerospace Manufacturing Aviation Training Centre and Aviation University International Airport Aerotropolis – Commercial and Residential (II). Land (i) 4200 acres of land contiguous to the existing airstrip belonging the different departments of the State Government has been identified for establishing the Integrated Aviation Hub.

The aim is to achieve blending targets of ethanol with petrol (Ethanol Blending Programme). Key Points Ethanol Blending Programme (EBP): Aim: It aims at blending ethanol with petrol, thereby bringing it under the category of biofuels and saving millions of dollars by cutting fuel imports and decreasing carbon emissions. Target: The target is to achieve 20% blending of ethanol by 2025. Ethanol Extraction from Foodgrains: In 2018, the Central Government extended the ambit of the EBP programme to extract the fuel from surplus quantities of food grains such as maize, jawar, bajra fruit and vegetable waste. Earlier, only excess sugarcane production was allowed to be converted into ethanol for procurement under the programme. Financial Assistance for Expansion of Ethanol Distillation Capacity: The government will provide interest subvention (on loans) to encourage the funding in this sector. Aim: To set up distilleries for producing 1st Generation (1G) ethanol from feed stocks such as cereals (rice, wheat, barley, corn & sorghum), sugarcane, sugar beet etc. To convert molasses (a sugar byproduct) based distilleries to dual feedstock. Expected Benefits: Enhancing Farmers’ Income Provide Employment Promote Distributed Ethanol Production Related Initiatives: E20 Fuel: Earlier, the Indian government had invited public comments for introducing adoption of E20 fuel (a blend of 20% ethanol with gasoline). He said that an amount of Rs 373.75 lakh has been approved for improvement of link road Badyal to Nimbwala in district Panchkula. In district Yamunanagar, while Rs 90.65 lakh has been approved for improvement of Jagadhri workshop road, Rs 27.03 lakh has been approved for improvement of Chhachhrauli Paonta road to Rayanwala, Rs 300.25 lakh for improvement of road from Tajewala to Headwork, Rs 822.17 lakh for improvement of road from widening and strengthening of Jagadhri-Bari-Pabni road, Rs 932.63 lakh for improvement of Buria-Khadri-Deodhar road, Rs 479.12 lakh for improvement of Jagadhri-Buria-Deodhar road and Rs 90.58 lakh for widening of Yamunanagar bye pass road to Ratauli. He said that similarly, in district Ambala, a sum of Rs 64.95 lakh has been approved for the improvement of link road from Ambala-Baraula road to Tharwa whereas, Rs 103.66 lakh has been approved for the improvement of Bara to Babaheri road, Rs 61.48 lakh for improvement of link road from Ambala Cantt.
