Basándose en un corpus representativo del contenido lírico de, por una parte, el reguetón común y, por otra parte, la corriente de reguetón feminista, el estudio toma una perspectiva interdisciplinaria combinando la lingüística cognitiva, el Análisis Crítico del Discurso y la perspectiva de género en su análisis. La tesis arguye que las metáforas animales y las metáforas gastronómicas desempeñan un papel significativo en la transmisión de ideas de género en las letras investigadas. Se sostiene que en el reguetón común, estas metáforas tienden a tener un enfoque en la mujer y en el aspecto físico y seductivo de la femineidad. El reguetón feminista, por su parte, se caracteriza por más variedad en sus conceptualizaciones. En este grupo de material, la interacción seductiva también juega un rol importante; no obstante, el autorretrato femenino y la resistencia a las normas heterosexuales y patriarcales llevan un enfoque mayor. Asimismo, se destaca que en la construcción metafórica del amor homosexual entre mujeres, el reguetón feminista tiende a tener más similitudes con la conceptualización del reguetón común.

Many were involved, but leadership and persistence were motivated by our leader Ron and Lilliane, and 32 teammates that Ron has dubbed Team Terrific, helping hands that led to this extraordinary achievement to sustain the Legacy of 1953. Details of this fabulous achievement follow. Mark Smoller’s Class Notes for the Alumni Magazine in the fall. “It was not, “So long!”, but “See ya later!” at a send-off gathering for Bonnie and Dave Siegal. Thirty-three classmates and their wives and widows gathering at Kendall to wish the Siegal’s well. After many years of on the scene, service to the Class and the College, Bonnie and Dave are leaving for Tulsa, Oklahoma, and will be missed in Hanover. We look forward to seeing them as they return for various events, and wish them good luck in their new digs. Geoff Munns ii Abstract This thesis explores the use of place in Van Morrison’s songwriting. The central argument is that he employs place in many of his songs at lyrical and musical levels, and that this use of place as a poetic and aural device both defines and distinguishes his work. This argument is widely supported by Van Morrison scholars and critics. The main research question is: What are the ways that Van Morrison employs the concept of place to explore the wider themes of his writing across his career from 1965 onwards? This question was reached from a critical analysis of Van Morrison’s songs and recordings. A position was taken up in the study that the songwriter’s lyrics might be closely read and appreciated as song texts, and this reading could offer important insights into the scope of his life and work as a songwriter. The analysis is best described as an analytical and interpretive approach, involving a simultaneous reading and listening to each song and examining them as speech acts.
