Children’s book category. Adults, quite simply, are buying ebook versions of YA/Children’s books. And that leads to a positive feedback cycle, in which books purchased online and downloaded to e-readers — both from the comfort and anonymity of the bedroom — can give a boost to certain genres. That freedom to experiment is opening the floodgates for certain types of content to go mainstream — not just “young” content but also “mature” content. In the case of the colouring books, of course, there are no e-books to download and no way to read them on a Kindle. But you still order them online, and that’s where the viral nature of the Internet comes into play, breaking down the sense of embarrassment that read- ers might have had about purchasing coloring books. Once an item starts trending online, it acquires its own form of momentum and a seal of approval from the crowd. Basford’s books have been men- tioned by celebrities such as Zooey Deschanel, and due to their beautiful illustrations, often appear on Pinterest and Instagram. Once these pictures show up in social networks, it makes them easier to trend. And once readers see a colouring book trending online, it makes it safer for them to purchase it as well. It suddenly becomes “cool” rather than “embarrassing” to buy a colouring book. Of course, there’s another, more depressing explanation for why colour- Colouring books are gaining ing books have taken over the world. The end feels predictable, but if you paid atten- tion from the beginning, the intention of Ratnam was not to celebrate live-in O Kadhal relationships — though he does to an extent — but it was always about fall- ing in love and happily living ever after. Unfriended, out in US theaters on Friday, follows six high school students gathering on the video conferencing platform Skype on the anniversary of the suicide of a fellow student, who killed herself after an embarrassing video of her was posted online. Filmed entirely as if the events are unfolding on a computer screen, a mys- terious entity joins the group’s Skype conversation and begins to coerce secrets out of each friend, before exact- ing gory revenge one by one, as the others watch in horror. HYPER SUDOKU How to play Kakuro: KAKURO The kakuro grid, unlike in sudoku, can be of any size. It has rows and columns, and dark cells like in a crossword. And, just like in a crossword, some of the dark cells will contain numbers. Some cells will contain two numbers. However, in a crossword the numbers reference clues. In a kakuro, the numbers are all you get! They denote the total of the digits in the row or column referenced by the number. Within each collection of cells - called a run - any of the numbers 1 to 9 may be used but, like sudoku, each number may only be used once.
