Host Town Summit toward Tokyo 2020 Games Date:2018.2.25(Sun) 12:00~ Venue: Musashino University Ariake Campus program Book Sponsorship: Secretariat of Headquarters for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Cabinet Secretariat Message Minister in charge of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games Mr. Shunichi Suzuki Welcome and thank you for your participation in “Host Town Summit”. This is the very first occasion where so many people associated with the Host Town meet together and hold meetings. As of the fifth registration in December 2017, Host Towns have spread into all 47 prefectures in Japan, with 211 registrations, which include 282 local governments with 82 counterpart countries/ regions that they intend to host. While additional local governments are expected to join to the program in the future, our focus is not only on Pre-training camp before the Tokyo 2020 games, but also on emphasizing exchanges between athletes and residents in Host Town after the games. This type of Host Town is gradually increasing, and we believe this trend will continue to grow in the future as well. I am very happy that a variety of Host Town activities are flourishing in line with the unique capabilities in each respective region, fully utilizing the resources available in each place. We have decided to hold this “Host Town Summit” in order to offer you the chance to exchange information regarding the activities in various regions. The General Presentations will include presentations from a variety of perspectives about “"Arigato" Host Town for supporting reconstruction”, “Host Town of a harmonious and inclusive society”, as well as presentations by people conducting advanced Host Town activities. Subcommittee meetings have been scheduled with practical discussions on a variety of topics, such as Food, Tourism, Olympics and Paralympics Education, International Cooperation, Harmonious and Inclusive Society, Citizen Participation, Human Resource Development, and Evaluation of Host Towns from abroad. Panel Discussion will offer you the opportunities to know and exchange opinions with a broad range of individuals associated with Host Towns, from Local Governments, Embassy, Businesses and the Media, about the theme as “The way of Exchanges Beyond 2020-Possibilities of Host Towns”. I am hopeful that all participants will contribute to create various solutions to continue Host Town activities beyond the Tokyo 2020 Games. It is my sincere hope that Host Town local governments, including those local governments hoping to be Host Towns in future, will conduct activities which will leave “a positive legacy” that will continue to benefit their towns for many years to come, which are not limited to sports but across a broad range of fields, such as food, culture, universal design and economics. I hope “Host Town summit” will prove helpful for your future Host Town activities. 1 Host Town Summit toward Tokyo 2020 (1) 12:00 Opening greeting *Language: Japanese only (2) General Presentations (Part 1) (60 minutes) 12:05-13:05 *Language: Japanese only Perform the following presentations at the main venue: · Inclusive Society Host Town's initiatives (Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture; Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture) ·Host towns which are carrying out characteristic initiatives (Tokushima Prefecture (Tokushima Commercial High School students, etc.), Kasama City, Ibaraki Prefecture (Mayor, etc.), Sanmu City, Chiba Prefecture; Tsurugashima City, Saitama Prefecture) (3) Subcommittee meeting (80 minutes (with halfway break) 13: 15-14: 35 *Language: Japanese only Practical lectures and workshops on the following A-H themes are held by those who work for Host Town activities so that participants can have concrete practical know-hows and wisdoms. 【Themes】 A.
