Réso- lument tourné vers la formation des jeunes, le club a souhaité organiser un tournoi mettant en avant la jeune garde du tennis mondial. La dotation reste inchangée avec 15 000 $ distribués aux joueurs. L’Open Masculin 86 a révélé de nombreux jeunes talents qui ont fait leur preuve sur le circuit. La victoire d’Antoine Hoang en est un exemple : il est aujourd’hui 136e joueur mondial à seulement 24 ans. Il succède à des grands noms du tennis tricolore comme Nicolas Mahut, grand vainqueur de l’Open en 2003, ou encore Jo-Wilfried Tsonga qui s’était imposé en 2007. Il faut également souligner le passage d’Hugo Gaston à l’Open juste avant sa belle édition à Roland Garros.
