Many of our friends and neighbors depend on tips to make ends meet. This virtual tip jar is for local service industry staff – employees at bars, restaurants, salons, etc. – to post their Venmo or Paypal information so that customers, neighbors, and Cambridge community members can continue to support them. https://sites.google.com/view/cambridge-virtual-tip-jar/home GREG HILL FOUNDATION - RESTAURANT STRONG FUND The Greg Hill Foundation has teamed up with Samuel Adams to support those from the Massachusetts restaurant industry who have been impacted by the Covid-19 closures. Together, and with the insights of notable Boston-area chefs Ming Tsai (Blue Dragon), Ken Oringer (Little Donkey) and Chris Coombs (Boston Chops), we will be raising awareness and funds to provide grants to full-time restaurant workers in Massachusetts who are dependent on wages plus tips to cover basic living expenses and provide for their families. Our goal is to provide $1,000 grants to as many qualifying grantees as possible. BOSTON RESILIENCY FUND https://www.boston.gov/departments/treasury/boston-resiliency-fund The Boston Resiliency Fund is the City of Boston’s effort to help coordinate fundraising and philanthropic efforts to provide essential services to Boston residents whose health and well-being are most immediately impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. We are also working to help first responders and critical care providers. The relief fund will help residents and immigrants facing homelessness, food insecurity, and loss of critical services as a result of the COVID-19 public health crisis. To help bring swift economic relief to these essential businesses, the Foundation launched a fund that will be gathering support from corporate, foundation, and individual donors to provide micro-grants to independent food and beverage businesses in need. https://www.jamesbeard.org/relief RESTAURANT AID – THE PROJECT The Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic has caused unprecedented closures in many sectors, but the restaurant industry has been hit particularly hard. Since these individuals rely heavily on cash tips and not hourly wage, they (a) are immediately without cash flow and (b) may not qualify for unemployment in certain states/regions. This means an entire chunk of the American population thrown immediately into crisis. More than 2.45 million restaurant workers live in poverty, and only 14 percent receive employer-sponsored health benefits. As restaurants across the country cut hours, suspend business, and close for good, many restaurant workers will be faced with long-term loss
