This report was commissioned to update the national status of aquatic and semi-aquatic bugs using IUCN methodology for assessing threat. It covers all species of aquatic and semi-aquatic bugs (Heteroptera) in Great Britain, identifying those that are rare and/or under threat as well as non-threatened and non-native species. This is the first reliable record of the species in Slovenia. KEY WORDS: Heteroptera, Corixidae, Micronecta, fauna, Slovenia Izvleœek - MICRONECTA POWERI (DOUGLAS & SCOTT) V SLOVENIJI (HETEROPTERA: CORIXIDAE) Micronecta poweri (Douglas & Scott, 1869), vrsta pritlikave veslavke, je bila naj- dena v potoku Viønjica pri Krki v preddinarskem obmoœju Slovenije. To je prva zanesljiva najdba te vrste v Sloveniji. KLJUŒNE BESEDE: Heteroptera, Corixidae, Micronecta, favna, Slovenija Species of the genus Micronecta are the smallest water bugs. Usually they are included in the family Corixidae (water boatmen), but Nieser (2002) put them in their own family Micronectidae due to several morphological differences. Their behaviour is also different from other corixids in many respects. They are found in stagnant or slowly flowing waters, usually along shores with little (or without) veg- etation. They live in small to very large swarms. Their food is not known, but they can be kept alive just with fresh bottom material from their habitats (Jansson, 1986). They breathe the oxygen dissolved in water and do not come for the air to the sur- face. So they cannot live in oxygen-poor waters and are hard-hit by pollution. They overwinter as larvae and reach the adult stage in early summer. -

The accuracy of food web and ecosystem models rests on the reliability of the information on the feeding habits of the species involved. Water boatmen (Corixoidea) is the most diverse superfamily of water bugs (Heteroptera: Nepomorpha), frequently the most abundant group of insects in a variety of freshwater habitats worldwide. In spite of their high biomass, the importance of water boatmen in aquatic ecosystems is fre- quently underestimated. The diet and feeding habits of Corixoidea are unclear as published data are frequently contradictory. We summarise information on the feeding habits of this taxon, which exemplify the diffi culties in evaluating published data on feeding habits in an invertebrate taxon. -

These structures have different morphologies and respond to different mechanical and chemical stimuli. Corixidae and Micronectidae are groups of insects living in water. Because of that, their antennae are much smaller than the antennae of terrestrial insects. Apart from that, their position on the evolutionary tree has been changed over the years. We analyzed the antennae of different species of Corixidae and Micronectidae and found five different types of sensillar structures. Moreover, by comparing the two groups together and with other water insects, we established similarities and differences when it comes to the types and distributions of these structures. These findings allowed us to support the current systematic position of the studied insects. Abstract: The goal of this study was to analyze the types and distributional patterns of sensilla in Corixoidea, which is part of the approach to the phylogeny study of Nepomorpha, based on the morphological characters of sensilla. This paper presents the results of the study, with the use of a scanning electron microscope (SEM), on the antennae of species from the families Corixidae and Micronectidae. -
