Key Points: Leeroy Stagger’s eighth studio album, Truth Be Sold, was produced by Grammy Award winner Steve Berlin of Los Lobos and recorded at Mystery Machine Studios in Portland, OR. Truth Be Sold takes listeners on a journey to the edge of Stagger’s heavy-roots-‘n’-rock-‘n’-roll mind. The 11-song album is a mix of brand new songs as well as Berlin’s picks from Stagger’s demo vault. The beautifully scathing “Cities On Fire” was written eight years ago but was updated in the studio to document the Occupy Wall Street movement that was gaining momentum while the record was being made. In a departure from Staggers roots-y past, Stagger lets his punk rock past re-emerge with a tip of the hat to The Stooges and Queens of The Stones Age. Featuring fuzzed out guitars and midi sax solos nestled under Stagger’s rollicking vocal deliveries, Berlin took Stagger well away from his comfort zone. “Steve had a gigantic suitcase of percussion and a weird pedals,” says Stagger. “There wasn’t a song we recorded that didn’t have some foreign object taped to the drum kit or a pedal plugged into a guitar like the drum intro to ‘Celebrity’ and the guitar on ‘Memo’.” Berlin also played keyboards on the record and added his signature baritone sax sound to the Stones-ish rocker “Goodnight Berlin”.

The Moody Blues, still rocking in 2013 with original members Justin Hayward, John Lodge and Graeme Edge, have released 24 albums in a career spanning nearly five decades. They have sold over 50 million albums, earning them eighteen platinum discs and all manner of awards including Playboy “Group of the Year”, the Golden Ticket award for selling the most tickets at Madison Square Garden and an Ivor Novello for Outstanding Contribution to British Music, even appearing in an episode of “The Simpsons”.

Their classic album “Days of Future Passed” (featuring the Moody Blues’ signature song “Nights in White Satin”) heralded the era of the concept album and elaborate sleeve artwork that would epitomise the Progressive Rock movement that followed.

Formed in 1964 in Birmingham The Moody Blues came from the same gene pool that would give the world Traffic, the Move, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Slade. The original line‐up of the band (Denny Laine, Graeme Edge, Clint Warwick, Ray Thomas and Mike Pinder) scored a global number one hit with “Go Now”, but struggled to follow up this success and Warwick and Laine left the group to be replaced by John Lodge and Justin Hayward respectively in 1966. For the next few months the band crafted a new set of original compositions that would change their fortunes forever.

FAMOUS UNDERGROUND is the new project of Nick Walsh, formerly frontman of SLIK TOXIK, together with his long-time bassist/musical partner Laurie-Anne Green at his side. Folks that remember life before grunge may recall the Canadian hard rock outfit kicking up a proverbial storm in the early '90s. SLIK TOXIK achieved Gold status in Canada with their full length Sleaze- Glamrock-debut “ Doin' The Nasty” and took home the 1993 Juno Award for Best Album of The Year. Sadly, in spite of their success, SLIK TOXIK called it quits in 1995 as grunge tightened its hold on the music scene. Nick Walsh and lead guitarist Rob Bruce formed the modern rock/hardrock band RAISED ON MARS, and together they released a self-titled debut. Walsh went on to form the hardrock band REVOLVER with CRASH KELLY's guitarist Sean Kelly. REVOLVER have produced two albums, one being a CD/DVD set. In 2011 the band changed its name to FAMOUS UNDERGROUND.

Darius Szczepaniak (BLACK CROWES etc.) mixed and mastered the album at Rouge Valley Studio in Toronto. Carl Begai of Canadian Hard Rock/Metal Magazine BW&BK describes the album as “It’s a darker if-Metallica-were-Guns-N-Roses direction with this brand new work of Mr. Walsh.”

Key Points:

 The Austrian clarinettist Andreas Ottensamer has captured audiences and critics alike with the singular beauty of tone that he coaxes from the instrument. At one stage he studied the cello, which perhaps has helped to imbue his approach to the clarinet with a soulful depth. His Viennese instrument, with a wider bore than the closely related German-system clarinet, produces a particularly dark, expansive and warm tone, which he exploits to full advantage.  Born in 1989, Ottensamer comes from an Austro-Hungarian family of musicians and was drawn to music early, receiving his first piano lessons when he was four. At the age of ten he began studying cello in his home town at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, then changed to the clarinet under Johann Hindler in 2003.
