The roots of our vmy of lite are sunk deep in our soil. Planted by the pioneers who first broke the earth and fought to wrest a living fr~n the prairie, and cultivated by succeeding generations, our American life has flowered to its present perfection. A study of this glorious growth is essential to the making of @Dod citizenship. By learning to understaBd the problems of the builders of a county and a community, the student of today can find the faith and inspiration with which to face the trials of modern lifo. With this thought in mind, pleasuro is taken in pre senting a new History of Franklin County, which bas been caret ully prepar cd by the Iowa wri t er s ' Program of the Work Proj~cts Administration.

  • GET 51325 Alkaholiks 21 & Over LP
THA ALKAHOLIKS 21 & OVER The Alkaholiks, like their LA peers Cypress Hill, had three important things going for them – lots of charisma, top-shelf rhyme skills, and a sound that perfectly straddled both East and West Coasts. Their deep funk and hard-as-nails beats and overall production put them in a perfect position to make an impression with fans, no matter where those fans were. The group boasted a triple threat of MCs – E-Swift (who also produced), Tash and J-Ro – and they packed a strong punch with their 1993 debut, 21 & Over. It will surprise no one from names of the group and the album, but drinking takes up a lot of time here, including classic tracks – which doubled as album singles – like the rolling, ultra-funky “Make Room” and the hilarious “Only When I’m Drunk,” the latter fueled by the classic block-party break “Seven A1. Likwit (feat. King Tee) Minutes Of Funk.” A2. Only When I’m Drunk One lesser-known element of the group’s debut was the A3. Last Call introduction of the now mythical producer and MC Madlib, who produced the dusty “Mary Jane” and the ridiculously A4. Can’t Tell Me Shit funky, churning “Turn Tha Party Out” (under the name The Loot Pack, with DJ Romes). Both tracks are dope as hell, A5. Turn Tha Party Out (feat. The Loot Pack) and perfectly fit the group’s sound, showing that they also had an ear for up-and-coming talent. B1. Bullshit (feat. King Tee) An interesting old-school angle on the album is that B2.

  • TASH Connections Volume 39 Issue 3
TASH Connections Volume 39 Issue 3 Letter from our President Dear TASH Members, As The Beatles said in one of their songs, Money don’t get everything, its true...What it don’t get I can’t use! We all recognize the value of money, even if we don’t have much of it. One of the best known facts about people with intellectual or developmental disabilities is that their unemployment rate far exceeds the national average. What is less known, but understandable, is that they are disproportionately represented among those living in poverty. In other words, not only are they less likely to have a job, they are less likely to have any accumulated assets. While many of us support their rights to a quality education, an inclusive life, and self-determination, what people with disabilities often lack, and what they likely could benefit a great deal from, is being able to build and control their financial assets. This why Individual Development Accounts (IDAs), which are discussed in the articles in this issue of Connections, are so important. If you are professionally or personally connected to a person with disabilities, of any age, you will want to read these articles carefully. The information they provide could change a life. IDAs offer a new tool in the never-ending campaign for equity and justice. Most importantly, they let people have dreams about what they would like in their lives, and give them a way for achieving the dreams. Yes, there are a number of things that money can’t buy, but, let’s face it, it gives those who have it a sense of control over their lives which is the purest form of self-determination.
