COFFEE WITH A COP

Do you have concerns about issues of law and order in our local community? Now is your chance to discuss them with the local police in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Pop in to Cafe SoLe Seaway Road, Clarks Beach on Tuesday 12th November between 10.30 and 11.30am.

Share a cuppa with Community Constable Kelly Cochrane and air your concerns. Any worry you have - big or little - is a concern to the police if it is a concern to you, (No need to make a booking).

Letter to the Editor I am concerned about the speed that motorists drive in the 50km zones coming into the Waiau Pa village and out especially from Clarks Beach. This morning a car driven by some young female school students passed another car almost as they went around the corner into MacKenzie Road from Clarks Beach. It was unbelievable. We walk our dogs daily and find that most of the traffic takes no notice of speed limits on these roads. Considering there is a school, kindergarten and the village shops etc in this busy area it is absolutely appalling. I note that a few weeks ago a police car spent some time around the area but he was in a marked car, he said there had been complaints about the driving. Concerned resident

Driving advice: When Should High Beam Headlights Be Used? High beam headlights should be used at night, whenever you’re unable to see enough of the road ahead to drive safely.Ninety percent of a driver’s reactions depend on acute vision, including depth percep- tion, color recognition, and peripheral vision, all of which become severely limited at night. High-beam headlights shine at an angle to illuminate the road 350 to 400 feet ahead, or about twice as far as low beams. (Remember that 68 mph equals about 100 feet per second. When you travel at highway speeds at night, low beams may give you only a second or two to react to a hazard.)

We have planted strawberries and have great helpers watering them as we watch them grow. We would like to advise all that use our wonderful facilities, that the key will no longer be available for pick up outside of playgroup, due to some abuse of our honesty system over the past months.

During our hours a committee member should be there to open, however you can

IMG_9820.jpeg message us via our fb page or email when you’re wishing to head down & we’ll ensure you can get in (within our opening hours). Party hire key pick up will be arranged with the hirer to ensure hassle free/easy use.

On that note don’t forget playgroup can be hired out for parties. For just $50 you get use https://mail.google.com/mail/u/1/#inbox?projector=1 10/26/2019 of the whole facility (excluding art supplies). 1 / 1 Send us a message via fb https://m.facebook.com/ClarksBeachPlay- group/ or email [email protected] to see if your desired date is available.

IMG_9828.jpeg On a fun basis we’ve really been enjoying the warmer weather lately and getting out side stuck into the sandpit, exploring the garden/ bush & riding the bikes. As we head towards summer don’t forget the sunblock, sun hats & changes of clothes that come with water play. 1 / 1 Looking forward: how is it almost Christmas again! This sneaks up on us every year, so please pop in your diary & save the date for our Playgroup Christmas party, Wednesday 11th Dec. 9:30am-12pm. This will be filled with our usual Christmas activities, shared morning tea & a visit from a special man in red. We hope to see you all there for some fun.

We look forward to seeing you at one of our next sessions. Mon, Wed, Fri 9:30am-12pm.

Firstly, thank you to those of you who supported my re-election, I am joined by returning member Andy Baker and new members Amanda Kinzett and Logan Soole who will represent you in the Pukekohe Subdivision on the Franklin Local

Board. Congratulation to Bill Cashmore on been re-elected Councillor for the Franklin Ward of Auckland Council unopposed. Over the last two months four recycling trucks have caught fire, the causes have been lithium- ion batteries, hot barbecue ash, gas bottles, batteries, Xbox console that someone had placed in their recycling bin! You can put single-use alkaline batteries (AA, AAA, C and D sized) in our rubbish bin, but not in our recycling bin. It is better, however, to take these to a battery recycler to be recycled. Lithium-based batteries used to power items such as mobile/cell phones, hearing aids, power banks, laptops, electric vehicles, power tools, and vapers are hazardous items, which cannot be put in our rubbish or recycling bins. Waiuku Community Recycling Centre can help you to safely recycle or dispose of them. Auckland Council has a recycling search tool if people are unsure as to whether an item can be recycled or not.
