The Australian Map Circle Inc. 025.1760994 Journal of The Australian Map Circle Inc. The Globe, Number 60, 2008 iii PREFACE here has long been a need for a comprehensive index of past issues of The Globe and its antecedents. This index is the result of collaborative voluntary work over Tmany years by several members of The Australian Map Circle, to whom we give our sincere thanks for undertaking the work, quietly and ‘behind the scenes’. An index of the first fourteen issues was compiled many years ago and several attempts were made at later dates to bring the index up-to-date. This index covers issues of The Globe up to and including issue no. 50 (which appeared in 2000). A dip into its contents will reveal a wealth of interesting papers, reports and reviews, covering the growth of The Australian Map Circle from its inception as the Australian Map Curators’ Circle, formed at a Map Keepers’ Seminar and Workshop held at the National Library of Australia in Canberra in April 1973. It was felt that issue no. 50 would be a good cut-off point for this index, corresponding to the conclusion of one millennium and the commencement of the next. We trust that the general membership will find this index a useful tool. Our special thanks to (in approximate chronological order): Janet Shultz, Marian Dormer, Christina Gruzewski, Colleen Downs, the late Estelle Canning, John Cain, Brendan Whyte, Dorothy Prescott, and Joanna McLachlan for preparing this index. Issues 1 and 2, and parts of issues 3 and 4, were unpaginated; no page numbers are given for these issues; and The Globe: index entries refer to the issue year and number. Issues 1-18 of The Globe appeared under the imprint of the Australian Map Curators’ Circle. Incomplete Index to Illustrations, The Globe Issues 1-50. During the compilation of the general index, the illustrations included within The Globe issues 15, 18-27, 29-38, 41 and 46 issues were also indexed. The intention was to index all illustrations for publication with the general index. Unfortunately, time and resources did not permit completion of the illustrations index. However, the incomplete illustrations index is available “as is” in PDF format from the Australian Map Circle website. GENERAL INDEX A A.C.T. Map User Forum, Canberra, 22 November 1978, Report (N.
