It replaced the EOS 5D and was announced on September 17, 2008. On March 2, 2012, Canon announced the camera's successor: Canon EOS 5D Mark III. on December 24, 2012, Canon Japan moved the camera to the Old Products list, effectively shutting down the camera. Improvements compared to the original EOS 5D 21.1 megapixels (5616 × 3,744 pixels), compared to 12.8 megapixels (4,368 × 2,912 pixels). Small Raw modes: sRAW1 mode (10 megapixels/3861 × 2574 pixels), sRAW2 mode (5.2 megapixels/2784 × 1856 pixels). 98% of viewfinder coverage increased by 0.71× compared to 96% coverage. The larger 3.0-inch (76 mm) LCD display has 920,000 pixels, compared to the 2.5-inch (64 mm) display. Battery 1800 mAh LP-E6, compared to 1390 mAh BP-511A. The rear of the camera with LCD New features Film Recording Full HD in 1920 × 1080 and SDTV on 640 × 480 resolution. Monaural microphone for audio during video recording, speaker for playback and microphone socket for external stereo microphone Live Preview with ExpSim LV exposure simulation live preview (full exposure control preview using ExpSim LV, For video in DSLR) Live preview with contrast-detect autofocus HDMI video output for live live or playing clips and images on an external monitor using the C MiniHDMI port dust reduction system to perform automatic battery control software for 5D Mark II sensors is the first camera in the EOS line to provide video recording features. However, a photo during the video is possible, but the camera pauses the recording of the video until the final shot is taken. The 5D Mark II (LP-E6) lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 1800 mAh. Each battery contains a microchip with a unique identifier for the reporting state of charge and battery life for display on the camera. The 5D Mark II Battery Info can track battery life and shooting history for up to six LP-E6 batteries. The camera has native ISO 100 values, multiplied by power 2; other ISOs are derived from digital exposure push (ISO values, multiples of 125) or digital exposure attraction (ISO values, multiples of 160). The digital exposure push ISO 1/3 stop more than the native ISO, and the digital exposure pull ISO 1/3 stop less than the native ISO. ISO's digital exposure settings produce more noise than native settings with reduced dynamic range, and digital exposure settings pull OUT less noise than native settings. Video recording 5D Mark II followed by focus, matte box and other cinematography equipment While the Nikon D90 was the first DSLR to shoot 720p high definition video, and Panasonic GH1, MILC, was capable of 1080p/24 recording before the 5D Mark II officially got this capability, the latter being the first full-frame DSLR feature of 1080p video recording. With these features, the Canon 5D Mark II was able to compete with the high-quality digital cameras available at the time. Its release began the DSLR Revolution trend, significantly changing the world of independent cinema for years to come. The Canon PowerShot SX 1 IS followed up with 1080p video in the digital camera bridge shortly thereafter. Part of the 16:9 side ratio of the sensor used in video mode is similar to the sensitive area of the VistaVision 8/35 frame. This large sensor allows you to shoot a video with a very small depth of field for a movie look. The 21-megapixel sensor was swiped up hd resolution using only every third line and chrome 4:2:0, leading to concerns about the Moir models in the recorded video. Video clips can be up to 4GB in size, approximately 12 minutes 1080p HD or 24 minutes of SD (640 x 480) frames. These limitations stem from the maximum 4GB file size supported by the FAT32 file system format used on Compact Flash cards. The camera also imposes a hard maximum clip length of 29 minutes 59 seconds if the 4GB limit has not yet been reached. Video and audio are recorded in container files with H.264/MPEG-4 (Basic Profile and L5) video and 48 kHz/16-bit PCM audio on. The 1080p beatrate is about 38 megabits per second (4.8 Mbps), while for SD it is about 17 megabits per second (2.2 MBPs). Although the internal microphone is mono, the stereo sound is supported through the connector to enter the sound. When recorded for long periods of time, especially in warmer climates, increased video noise can occur due to CMOS overheating. Magic Lantern's video functionality is superimposed on the liveview 5D Mark IIThe EOS 5D Mark II is capable of recording video in low light and is sold at a relatively low price compared to professional video cameras. During the first eighteen months of its release, the camera had only 30 frames per second (30p) video mode. On March 15, 2010, Canon released a firmware update to add 25p mode for PAL compatibility and 24p mode for compatibility with movie cameras. The firmware update also modified the 30p mode to record 29.97 frames/s, while the new 24p mode actually records 23,976 frames/s to have a frame rate compatible with the NTSC. Finally, the update added manual control to the levels of audio recording and an official way to disable automatic control get. After the success of canon Hack Development Kit (CHDK) for Canon's PowerShot Cameras, A third-party firmware supplement was also produced for 5D Mark II. The Magic Lantern firmware add-on provides a plethora of additional controls related to video and cinematography, such as false colors, and zebra stripes to control exposure, field depths through peak filters, audio VU meters and disables automatic amplification control controls at the microphone's entrance (manual amplification control for the input of the microphone since then was added to the official microphone statement). It also provides a steady output of non-14-bit RAW video data on fast UDMA 7 CF cards with almost HD resolution (1004p vs. 1080p in Full HD). Independent Film and Television Famous Film and Television Productions that used the Canon 5D Mark II include (in order of release): BBC coverage of the Grand Prix snooker in the first week of September 2009 was the first BBC programme to use the camera. (quote needed) The opening title sequence for the 35th season of NBC's Saturday Night Live, first aired on September 26, 2009. The camera, along with the Canon 7D, was used because of its size, allowing sneaky shooting on the streets of New York City, and the depth of field capabilities, making it a suitable replacement for the usual 35mm film series. The music video for the Japanese band Sakanaction's song Aruku Around (2010), which won the 14th Japanese Media Arts Festival, was shot in full with the Canon EOS 5D Mark II. Drama is the usual 35mm film format. Parts of the seventh season were also recorded with 5D Mark II. bbc Two comedy series Shelfstackers, first shown on 4 September 2010, is the first BBC programme to be fully captured on camera. The corporation initially abandoned its use due to lack of quality, but were convinced the reverse director of the series, Dom Bridges. All six episodes of the series were filmed with a total budget of 160,000 pounds. The Road to Coronation Street, shown by BBC Four on 16 September 2010, is the UK's first television drama, filmed on Canon 5D Mark II. The director of the drama photography has been impressed and plans to use the camera on the seventh series of BBC One drama Hustle. In 2011, the short film Scenes from the Suburbs directed by Spike Jonze used a version of the modified camera to use Panavision lenses to capture all night scenes along with the 35mm film used for daytime scenes. He has now re-entered the Hawaiian TV series Five-0 using Canon 5DmkII.

Table of contents and Foreword I am pleased that you purchased one of our “Pentax K-7 – Everything you need to know…..and then some” book. As an enthusiastic photographer for many years, I have had many Pentax cameras. My first “new” camera was a Pentax Spotmatic, purchased when I was still in Junior High. When Pentax stepped into the Digital SLR market, I was delighted. Their first few DSLRs (The *ist series) were the smallest DSLRs on the market but were not particularly special with the 6MP CCD. When the K10D was introduced, everything changed and Pentax was suddenly a major player. The K10D was a breakthrough, in my opinion. It had the capabili- ties of Professional DSLRs with the price of entry-level DSLRs. It had some unique features found nowhere else at any price. In January of 2008, Pentax an- nounced the K20D. It was not a revolution as the K10D was, but it certainly was an evolution of the revolution. The K200D and the K2000/KM followed with no exceptional or marginal improvements. On May 20, 2009, Pentax made history again by introducing the Pentax K-7. This time, it is definitely another revolu- tion, and maybe bigger than the K10D was when introduced. Once again, Pentax engineers have pushed the envelope and designed a DSLR with more features than any camera in it’s price range.

In short, the G1 writes an entirely new chapter in the evolution of the digital interchangeable lens camera. And it lets you enjoy all this expressive power from the moment you first pick it up. With the G1 in hand, every day is a new chance for discovery. Anne, NEW WAY an art teacher Full-time Live View Lets You Take It Easy Casual, everyday shooting is now its own art form. I decided to upgrade from a compact digital camera to a digital SLR camera when the first of my two girls started kindergarten. But to tell the truth, I was afraid a digital SLR camera would be hard to use. Not the G1. I look at the LCD to frame my shot – just like with my compact camera – and press the shutter button when I like what I see. In addition, it is handy and small! What could be simpler and smaller? And the photos are so beautiful, you'd think they were shot by a professional. The G1 has been a lot of fun, for both me and my children.
