Rodeo Movies Sitting Bull Stampede Program - 2013 ● 21 The rodeo world is a completely different place then any of us are used to. There are connections between contes- tants, clowns, announcers; they are a family and the arena is their home. As spectators you see them in the stadium riding hard. It is easy to see their passion, however, few outsiders have seen what happens before the spotlights are lit and the action begins. To help you see the rodeo from the inside-out here are five of top ranking rodeo films. 8 Seconds (1994) – The story of 1987’s PRCA Bull Riding Champion Lane Frost (Luke Perry), tells Lane’s story about his career, his marriage, and friendships with Tuff Hedeman (Stephen Baldwin) and Cody Lambert (Red Mitchell). And the legends untimely death. Cowboy Up (2001)- Two brothers, Hank Braxton (Kiefer Sutherland) and Ely Brax- ton (Marcus Thomas) are coming into town in their respective fields as bull rider and bullfighter/stock contractor in the rodeo, however, when both brothers fall for barrel racer Celia Jones (Daryl Hannah) they are pushed to the boundaries of brotherhood. The Rounders (1965)- Ben (Glen Ford) and Howdy (Henry Fonda) are summer cattlemen/ bronco trainers and the two have a plan to more than double their sum- mer pay. They plan to take an ornery roan, which Ben has been unable to break, and bet their bankroll that no cowboy at the Sedona rodeo can stay on the horse. J.W Coop (1971)- After being released from an eight-year stint at prison, J.W. Coop (Cliff Robertson), returns to his life as a professional rodeo cowboy. Coop soon finds that not only has the business of the rodeo changed, but also the dynamic of society has changed all together in the last eight years. When Legends Die (1972)- Young Tom Black Bull (Frederic Forrest) is a Ute Indian who ventures into a job at the rodeo. Hard-drinking Red Dillon (Richard Widmark) spots Tom’s horse-handling skills, he decides to make Tom his meal ticket as a bronco-riding star. – Kelsey Crouse– Welcome to Mobridge’s 68th Annual There’s a little cowboy in all of Sitting Bull Stampede! us... even when you’re at Bridge Life can be a wild ride, City Marina roping in the fi sh! enjoy your stay!
