This brilliancy was not widely known to chess fans in 1947; it was printed only in old Eastern European magazines and in a book of Charousek’s games. It is an example of how well read Svendsen was as a chess player for him to even be aware of it. In the original story, Svendsen describes the moves of the game using only colorful explanatory words of narrative.
