Özyeğin Social Investments Thursday, April 9, 2020 Istanbul, Turkey COVID-19 (Coronavirus) - Business & Philanthropy Response As society struggles with the profound impact of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), many corporations and non-profit organizations have stepped up to help communities and government in responding to the pandemic. This document was initially compiled for our own efforts at Özyeğin Social Investments to understand the social responsibility engagement of the business community in Turkey, and then expanded to include international examples in relevant sectors and major philanthropic organizations. It lists actions ranging from traditional provision of funds to more innovative practices of developing services and products to meet emerging needs for the public good. While by no means exhaustive, we found the resulting list of 193 initiatives (116 in Turkey and 77 outside of Turkey) served to capture the initial range of responses in a way that could provide learnings and positive examples, especially for those interested in Turkey, and have decided to share our compilation with our network of peers. There are new initiatives emerging every day and we welcome your additions so we can continue to update our report. Please reach us at [email protected] and [email protected]; we would love to hear of the initiatives you are involved in or have been inspired by. We hope this compilation will help inform your organizational efforts in contributing your part to alleviating this humanitarian crisis. 1. In Turkey Hospitality (6) 1.
