White Sox pitcher Taylor Paige-Stewart has ended her college career at the University of Wisconsin with selection in the Big Ten Conference Second Team.
Here's the posting from the University of Wisconsin Badgers website. "Stewart earns her second second-team All-Big Ten honor after receiving her first as a sophomore in 2014. She is now the second player in the program to reap the honor twice in her career. Stewart, a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and three-time NFCA Division I All- America Scholar Athlete, leads the Badgers' pitching staff with a 2.61 ERA and a 2.27 ERA in conference-only games. "The Calabasas, California, native tied the program's seventh-highest win total in a Big Ten season with her seven conference victories this year. Stewart also clinched the all-time career record for saves (7) as she set the single-season record (4) this year.'' Unfortunately for Taylor-Paige, the UW Badgers were eliminated in the first round of the Big Conference championship finals, losing 4-0 to the University of Indiana Hoosiers. She came on to the mound in relief in the second inning with Indiana holding a 1-0 lead. Taylor- Paige threw six innings, giving up eight hits, three runs, three earned runs and two walks while taking four strikeouts. Here's the full report, which acknowledges Taylor-Paige "closed a phenomenal run at UW with 436 career strikeouts''. http://www.uwbadgers.com/news/2016/5/13/softball-wisconsins-stellar-season-ends-at-big-ten- tournament.aspx
