Different Strokes for Different Folks – The Generation Gap By Ili Aqilah, Nantini Krishnan & Tan Mei Kuan e are all human with similar physical characteristics but each of us is unique. WJust like the saying, “Different strokes for different folks”, everyone has different goals, priorities and dreams. Ipoh Echo talked to a number of Perakeans from different generations to get insights on how they see the world. Given that each generation is characterised by different experiences that shape their perspectives and behaviour, we sought to uncover the generational differences in answers to a set of questions that Ipoh Echo sent its team of reporters to ask. Continued on page 2 2 June 1-15, 2015 IPOH ECHO Your Voice In The Community “Each of us is a unique strand in the intricate web of life and here to make a contribution.” – Deepak Chopra e met some of the baby boomers, those who were born between 1946 to 1964. Born after the World War II, baby boomers are so called because Wthe birth rate around the world spiked up after the war. Ipoh Echo also chatted with those who were born between 1960s to early 80s, known as Generation X (Gen X) and is statistically the generation who received the best education system among all. "All these 20 assemblymen will assist the state exco members in carrying out their tasks more effectively. We have appointed them based on their experience and inclinations," he said after handing out the letters of appointment to the assemblymen, here, Wednesday. Zambry said the state government had also agreed to form three special committees involving policies and public interest, namely women's development, public transportation and crime prevention comprising BN and opposition assemblymen. He said the three special committees whose effectiveness would be monitored, also involved the participation of non-governmental organisations as members to give views towards providing the best public service delivery. "Although the appointment of the assemblymen is to smoothen administration, important decisions which need the state government's attention are to be brought to the state exco meetings," he added. Dr Mah Hang Soon Dari MCA Dilantik Exco Kerajaan Negeri Perak Bernama May 12, 2014 KUALA KANGSAR, 12 Mei (Bernama) -- Anggota Dewan Undangan Negeri (Adun) Chenderiang Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon Isnin dilantik sebagai Anggota Majlis Mesyuarat Kerajaan (Exco) Negeri Perak yang baharu. Dr Mah, 49, yang merupakan Pengerusi MCA Perak, mengangkat sumpah jawatan itu di hadapan Pemangku Raja Perak Raja Dr Nazrin Shah dengan disaksikan Hakim Utama Mahkamah Tinggi Ipoh Datuk Zainal Adzam Abdul Ghani di Istana Iskandariah di sini. Turut hadir Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir. Selain itu, sembilan anggota Exco lain yang dikekalkan turut mengangkat sumpah dengan diketuai Datuk Saarani Mohamad (Kota Tampan) serta disusuli Datuk Mohd Zahir Abdul Khalid (Kamunting), Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharuddin (Sungai Manik) dan Datuk Rusnah Kassim (Behrang). Datuk Samsudin Abu Hassan (Ayer Kuning), Datuk Mohd Nizar Zakaria (Belanja), Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohd Radzi (Tualang Sekah), Datuk Dr Muhammad Amin Zakaria (Batu Kurau) dan Datuk Shahrul Zaman Yahya (Rungkup) turut mengangkat sumpah jawatan.
