  • The Location Optimization of Wind Turbine Sites with Using the MCDM Approach: a Case Study
Energy Equip. Sys./ Vol. 5/No.2/ June 2017/165-187 Energy Equipment and Systems http://energyequipsys.ut.ac.ir www.energyequipsys.com The location optimization of wind turbine sites with using the MCDM approach: A case study Author ABSTRACT a* Mostafa Rezaei-Shouroki The many advantages of renewable energies—especially wind—such as abundance, permanence, and lack of pollution, have encouraged a Industrial Engineering Department, many industrialized and developing countries to focus more on these Yazd University, Yazd, Iran clean sources of energy. The purpose of this study is to prioritize and rank 13 cities of the Fars province in Iran in terms of their suitability for the construction of a wind farm. Six important criteria are used to prioritize and rank these cities. Among these, wind power density— the most important criterion—was calculated by obtaining the three- hourly wind speed data at the height of 10 m above ground level related to the time period between 2004 and 2013 and then extrapolating these data to acquire wind speed related to the height of 40 m. The Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method was used for prioritizing and ranking the cities, after which Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Fuzzy Technique for Order of Preference by Article history: Similarity to Ideal Solution (FTOPSIS) methods were used to assess the validity of the results. According to the results obtained from these Received : 20 September 2016 three methods, the city of Izadkhast is recommended as the best Accepted : 5 February 2017 location for the construction of a wind farm. Keywords: Wind Farm; Prioritizing; Optimization; Fars Province; Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA).

  • Interview #25
United States Institute of Peace Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training Iraq PRT Experience Project INTERVIEW #25 Interviewed by: Barbara Nielsen Initial Interview May 1, 2008 Copyright 2008 USIP & ADST Executive Summary The interviewee was the PRT team leader in Diyala province from February, 2007 until March, 2008. Diyala province is ethnically mixed, comprised of roughly 20% Shia, 40% Sunni, 9% Kurd, and the remainder other groups. Although intermarriage was frequent (e.g. the governor’s paramount wife was a Shia, but his young wife was a Sunni) and coexistence among the groups had been traditional, after the fall of Saddam Hussein, the sectarian divide was accentuated, along with the manifestation of a complex mosaic of conflicting loyalties and historical grievances. The interviewee’s principal mandate was to develop the capacity of the provincial government to function. However, with the constant combat and frequent ambushes he describes, lasting from February through the late fall of 2007, the PRT’s ability to travel was severely limited. The interviewee describes how, initially, they had to pick up the provincial governor in his own village 20 miles away and bring him to the government center so he could sit in his office. After about three months, the PRT renovated and fortified his office so that he could remain there overnight three to four nights per week. That example led to the assistant governor, deputy governor and other directors resorting to the same governing technique. The interviewee describes how Al-Qaeda was initially invited into the province to protect the Sunni inhabitants from the Shia militia operating at the behest of the Shia police chief.

Department of Plant Protection, Faculty of Agriculture, Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz, Ahvaz, Iran; E-mails: [email protected], [email protected] 2. Department of Plant Protection, Faculty of Agriculture, Shahrekord University, Shahrekord, Iran; E-mail: [email protected] ABSTRACT Animal droppings constitute an ephemeral habitat where specialized invertebrate communities including significant abundance of mites live together. In order to study the Mesostigmata mites associated with manure, samples were taken from different manure types of domestic animals and poultry in Ahvaz and its vicinity in Khuzestan Province, southwestern of Iran, over a period of two years (2015-2017). Here we report 20 species belonging to eight families of Mesostigmata, among which 14 species are new records for the fauna of Khuzestan Province. The genus and species Leitneria pugio (Karg, 1961) is newly recorded from Iran. The genus and species were previously only recorded in Europe. • Analyzing the Causes of Low Participation of Rural Women by Using Mixed Method Case: Rural District of Sina in Varzeghan County
Space Economy & Rural Development Vol. 16 Summer 2016 1 Analyzing the causes of low participation of rural women by using mixed method Case: rural district of Sina in Varzeghan County Mirsatar Sadr Mousavi Full Professor in Geography and Rural Planning, Tabriz University, Tabriz, Iran. Hossein Karimzadeh Assistant Professor of Geography and Rural Planning, Tabriz University, Tabriz, Iran. Aghil, Khaleghi PhD Student in Geography and Rural Planning, Tabriz University, Tabriz, Iran. Received: 02.Jun.2015 Accepted: 20.Sep.2015 Introduction The idea of "ignoring economic labor" of rural women and their role in providing households' financial and non-financial resources is deeply ingrained in cultural fabric of our society that is hardly possible to change the notion of "men being sole breadwinners". The rate of women participation in the employment and labor market is much less than men. This is due to the presence of social, legal, and economic barriers and cultural and traditional restrictions. In Iran, the main activities of rural women can be summarized in three sectors; agriculture, rural industries and rural services. Currently, according to the information contained in the (2011-2012) 1390 Statistical Yearbook, 14987out of 37 958 people, as the population of 10 years and more in the County of Varzeghan, constitute the employed active population. It makes a portion of 13098 for rural areas. The share of female population employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing in the province has reported to be 26116 people within which the overall share of the total population of Varzeghan has been 8280. Although rural women are not counted in agriculture sector, many women of the County are participating in this sector.
