47 Meters Down Directed by Johannes Roberts Starring Mandy Moore Claire Holt and Matthew Modine Running Time: Tbc Uk Release: Tbc DISTRIBUTER TO BE INSERTED HERE PRESENTS 47 METERS DOWN DIRECTED BY JOHANNES ROBERTS STARRING MANDY MOORE CLAIRE HOLT AND MATTHEW MODINE RUNNING TIME: TBC UK RELEASE: TBC UK PUBLICITY TO BE INSERTED SYNOPSIS They say that a vacation is the perfect opportunity to try new things, to have experiences far removed from the monotony of everyday life. At least that's how Kate (Claire Holt) convinces her sister Lisa (Mandy Moore) to be lowered a few feet into the ocean, inside a rickety metal cage, and come face-to-face with a Great White shark. The pair are holidaying in Mexico, after Lisa finds herself on the receiving end of a messy break up with her long term partner. Having been labelled as 'boring', she wants to be more adventurous and exert herself – and after meeting Benjamin (Santiago Segura) and Louis (Yani Gellman) in a bar, the sisters are persuaded to travel with them the following day and take part in this once-in-a-lifetime experience. However when their cage breaks away from the vessel, they find themselves plummeting to the seabed, trapped, surrounded by feverish sharks – and with a rapidly decreasing oxygen supply. 1 LONG SYNOPSIS “Too boring” was the paramount reason Stuart provided when breaking up with his long-term partner Lisa (Mandy Moore). With a holiday to Mexico on the horizon and already booked, the Lisa convinces her sister Kate (Claire Holt) to accompany her instead, under the pretence that her now ex-boyfriend is busy working. When she breaks the news that she is in fact single – and has by no means come to terms with it– she is convinced to live a little, prove to Stuart, and to herself, that she is far from boring. Having met opportunists Benjamin (Santiago Segura) and Louis (Yani Gellman) in a local bar, the American tourists are convinced to join them on a breath-taking, once-in-a-lifetime experience; to be placed inside a secure metal cage, and lowered a few meters into the ocean, to come up close to Great White sharks that are circling nearby. While Kate is determined to be adventurous, Lisa remains highly sceptical, afraid of the consequences and nervous about leaving her fate in the hands of a rickety old cage, on a boat helmed by the sardonic Taylor (Matthew Modine). Needless to say, whenever Lisa displays her apprehensions, Kate is on hand to persuade her otherwise, knowing full well that her sister will never win back the heart of her former partner unless she starts taking some risks. Yet neither of the siblings could have prepared for what was in store; as when they are lowered into the water, with fish blood poured around them to attract the sharks – the wire connecting the cage to the boat becomes loose, and suddenly the two (amateur) divers find themselves on the unforgiving seabed, trapped, and with a limited oxygen supply, slowly, but surely, running its course. Oh, and just to make matters worse – there are sharks on hand waiting fervently for their dinner. Struggling to make contact with the vessel above, the pair face up to their impending fate, knowing that only an ambitious, and speedy rescue mission will ensure their safety – but as time runs perilously low, they realise that in order to survive, they may have to do it themselves, and attempt to swim upwards. Either way, with time ticking, they have to make a decision – and 2 suddenly the idea of being 'boring' is not quite as unappealing to Lisa as she had once taken it to be.
