During the 19972000 investigations the quarantine pest Phthorimaea operculella was not registered in Lithuania. During the studies undertaken in 19982000 Anarsia lineatella was caught in four new localities of two new districts Utena and Panevëþys. Moths belonging to 94 species from 17 families were caught with pheromone traps for P. operculella and A. lineatella, with species rare for Lithuania among them (Calybites phasianipennella, Phyllonorycter corylifoliella, Coleophora ibipennella, Scrobipalpa acuminatella, Scrobipalpa artemisiella, Ypsolopha horridella, Synanthedon myopaeformis, Pammene spiniana, Cydia lunulana, Cydia orobana, Mesapamea secalella, Hypena rostralis). As a result of the above studies the names of moths most frequently caught with A. lineatella and P. operculella pheromone traps have been elucidated. Also some new localities for the other nine moth species in Lithuania have been additionally distinguished and adduced in the present study. Sampling was undertaken between April and October on 3 oak species (Quercus robur, Q. petraea, Q. rubra). Biologi- cal traits of larvae were examined in order to explain differences in seasonal guilds among oaks. Communities varied in structure and abundance. Species richness in four seasonal guilds (flush, late spring, summer and autumn feeders) had a similar pattern on each of the studied oak species. The guild of flush feeders had the richest species assemblage, followed by the late spring feeder guild and both guilds were significantly richer than the summer feeder guild and autumn feeder guild. For this reason in the years 2008–2010 a study was initiated on the phenology of 8 dominant Pimplinae species in apple orchards and on their edges, which included shrubberies and roadside avenues of trees and shrubs. Slightly higher numbers of Pimplinae were recorded in orchards compared to their edges. At strong correlation was observed between the counts of Pimplinae in both habitats. The preference of selec- tion of orchards by Pimplinae was observed in the autumn period, while no such preference was found in the spring or summer months. Analyses showed that flowering plants in the orchard edges such asTilia cordata, Symphoricarpos albus, Cirsium arvense and Galium aparine may have attracted Pimplinae to the orchards. -

Cochylini del 3 Aethes fortsat, Cochylidia, Cochylis mv. (4326-4365) Aethes cnicana (Wstw.) 13-18 mm. Imago flyver om aftenen omkring foderplanten og kommer fint til lys i juni juli. Længere mod syd i to generationer. Der er en del variation. Båndet kan være næsten jævnt bredt i hele længden eller – oftere - noget knudret, men dog sammenhængende. Aethes cnicana (Wstw.) Larven lever i frø, rødder og stængler af forskellige tidsler, i Norden først og fremmest Tidsel og Bladhovedtidsel (Cirsium, Carduus). Den overvintrer og forpupper sig i stængel/rod om foråret. Udbredt og almindelig i hele det nordlige og centrale Europa. Aethes cnicana & rubigana Aethes cnicana (tv.) er lysere, mere roligt tegnet og midtbåndet er næsten udelt. Aethes rubigana (th.) har delt midtbånd og den nederste del ender med et rundt hoved, der tydeligt bøjer udad mod apex. Midt- båndet er også tydeligt bre- dere og der er et tydeligt, bredt bånd af lidt mørkere skæl længere ude på vingen. Aethes rubigana (Tr.) 15-19 mm. Imago flyver i aftentimerne omkring foderplanterne i juli-august og kommer gerne til lys. Længere mod syd er der også en generation i maj-juni. Også hos denne art er der en del variation, men båndet er altid afbrudt. Aethes rubigana (Tr.) Larven lever i september-oktober i blomsterhovederne af Burre (Actium) og overvintrer i stængel/rodstok. Sommergenerationen kan leve også i bladene. Aethes rubigana (Tr.) Arten kan også være meget spraglet og mørkere i yderfeltet som det viste eksemplar. Det er oftest hunner. Aethes rubigana (Tr.) Arten er udbredt øst for israndslinjen i Danmark og lokalt almindelig. -

A n ik in & Ir in a V. S h m yto v a received 30.1.2004 Abstract: 47 species of the casebearers (Lepidoptera, Coleophoridae) are recorded from the centre of the European part of Russia. The first investigation in the Lepidoptera from the centre of the European part of Russia was made about 200 years ago. Inspite of it the fauna of Coleophoridae of this territory still has been almost completely unknown until present time. In the course of our study, collections were made from 1984 to 1999 in some parts of Kaluga, Smolensk, Oryel provinces (I. V. Shmytova leg.) and Tula province (L. V. Bolshakov, C. A. Rjabov, A. F. Lakomov leg.). This territory is mainly composed of forest as well as forest-steppe zones (fig. 1). Kaluga, Smolensk and some regions of Tula provinces are typical for the occurence of coniferous (Picea abies (L.) Karst.), broad-leaved (Quercus robur L., Ulmus L, Tilia cordata Mill., Fraxinus excel sior L.) and small-leaved forests (Betula L., Populus tremula L., Alnus Mill., Salix L.). Pines (Pinus sylvestris L.) are spread here on the sandy lands. The elements of steppe flora are met mainly in Tula and Oryel provinces, but along the valleys of rivers they penetrate to the north and north-west. It consists of species of Festuca L., Koeleria Pers., Stipa L., Phleum L., Flelictitrichon Bess., Poa L., Ranunculus L, Galium L., Anem one L., Salvia L. -

Moths of Poole Harbour Species List
Moths of Poole Harbour is a project of Birds of Poole Harbour Moths of Poole Harbour Species List Birds of Poole Harbour & Moths of Poole Harbour recording area The Moths of Poole Harbour Project The ‘Moths of Poole Harbour’ project (MoPH) was established in 2017 to gain knowledge of moth species occurring in Poole Harbour, Dorset, their distribution, abundance and to some extent, their habitat requirements. The study area uses the same boundaries as the Birds of Poole Harbour (BoPH) project. Abigail Gibbs and Chris Thain, previous Wardens on Brownsea Island for Dorset Wildlife Trust (DWT), were invited by BoPH to undertake a study of moths in the Poole Harbour recording area. This is an area of some 175 square kilometres stretching from Corfe Castle in the south to Canford Heath in the north of the conurbation and west as far as Wareham. 4 moth traps were purchased for the project; 3 Mercury Vapour (MV) Robinson traps with 50m extension cables and one Actinic, Ultra-violet (UV) portable Heath trap running from a rechargeable battery. This was the capability that was deployed on most of the ensuing 327 nights of trapping. Locations were selected using a number of criteria: Habitat, accessibility, existing knowledge (previously well-recorded sites were generally not included), potential for repeat visits, site security and potential for public engagement. Field work commenced from late July 2017 and continued until October. Generally, in the years 2018 – 2020 trapping field work began in March/ April and ran on until late October or early November, stopping at the first frost. -

The classification and nomenclature follow the Danish checklist (Karsholt & Stadel Nielsen, 2013). Seven species are reported as new to the Danish fauna: 1) Micrurapteryx kollariella (Zeller, 1839) and 2) Caloptilia honoratella (Rebel, 1914) (Gracillariidae); 3) Dichomeris latipennella (Rebel, 1937) and 4) Scrobipalpa bryophiloides Povolný, 1966 (Gelechiidae); 5) Aethes bilbaensis (Rössler, 1877) (Tortricidae); 6) Hodebertia testalis (Fabricius, 1794) and 7) Cynaeda pustulalis (Hübner, 1823) (Crambidae). All were collected in one or two specimens with automatic light traps, apart from S. bryophiloides which was taken at light and H. testalis which was collected on sugar ropes. Stenoptilia veronicae Karvonen, 1932 replaces Stenoptilia eborinodactyla Zagulajev, 1986 in the Danish list. The introduced species Prays oleae (Bernard, 1788) is removed from the list as the only specimen recorded from Denmark belongs to Prays citri (Millière, 1873). The total number of Danish Gracillariidae is now 91, Gelechiidae 182, Tortricidae 395, and Crambidae 128. This results in a total of 1629 species of Microlepidoptera (families Micropterigidae–Zygaenidae + Pyralidae–Crambidae) found in Denmark. The total number of Macrolepidoptera species recorded from Denmark is 978, bringing the number of Danish Lepidoptera to a total of 2607 species. This is the 40th article in the series of yearly lists of Microlepidoptera from Denmark published in Entomologiske Meddelelser.
