Declaration of Any Other Business: 0 items 4. Matters Arising None 5. Reports 5.1 Electoral Roll There are 110 members on the Electoral Roll. P Bradley was thanked for his work, especially during the full review of the roll. 5.2 PCC and Church Reports In addition to the reports circulated, two successful Craft Days should be added to the Special Events. Revd Marilyn thanked God for the range and number of activities in the church. 5.3 Treasurer’s Report Revd Marilyn thanked Malcolm Piper for all the day to day work in handling the money and paying the bills. It was asked if fund raising projects had been discussed as planned at last year’s APCM. Over the last 5 years the level of day to day giving had dropped from £36,000 to £25,000. Revd Marilyn explained that the PCC had met a fundraiser from Elford, who had conducted a successful campaign. But Yoxall was in a different position in that the church had substantial reserves, and it was not felt appropriate to ask the village for more than was already contributed through the fete etc. She added that it was the responsibility of those who worshipped in the church to support its day to day running. M Piper commented that taking out special costs, the church was losing £80 - £100 per week. If every adult in the congregation contributed an extra £2 per week the loss could be eliminated. Mission would encourage more people to come to church but it would be a long term goal to expect them to contribute to the church. Agreed: to accept the accounts for the year 2018. Proposed Revd Marilyn. All in favour. 4 6. Elections 6.1 Election of Lay Representatives to serve on the PCC Name Proposer Seconder Michael Binsley D Bell F Finch Peter Bradley W Bradley M Piper Warren Bradley R Shaw M Ravenhall Bill Child R Payne S Piper Diane Child R Payne S Piper Sue Phillips J Johnson K Davies Malcolm Piper P. Bradley V John Gay Richardson A Cregan G Moore Robert Shaw P Stone W Bradley Proposed: Revd Marilyn All in favour Revd M Binsley’s licence has changed from Ordained Local Minister to Permission to Officiate. He is therefore no longer automatically on the PCC but has to be nominated in the usual way. Revd Marilyn thanked him warmly for everything he did for the church. Wendy Ravenhall has retired from the PCC but will continue as Assistant Warden. Revd Marilyn thanked her for all she contributed to the PCC and the church. 6.2 Election of Sidesmen and Sideswomen The following were elected to serve as sidesmen and sideswomen: Elizabeth Binsley; Deanne Bell; Jane Bradley; Warren Bradley; Peter Bradley; Valerie Bradley; Molly Gunton; Bill Child; Diane Child; Simon James; Jenny James; Ken Loukes; Diana Muir; Rosemary Payne; Michael Payne; Sue Piper; Malcolm Piper; Michael Ravenhall; Wendy Ravenhall; Shirley Scriven; Ann Stone; Peter Stone; Margaret Swinnerton. All in favour. 6.3 Appointment of Auditor Agreed that the Diocesan Board of Finance should be approved auditor for the coming year. All in favour 7. Any Other Business 7.1 M Ravenhall asked to be kept informed of any changes in the price of the Fisherman. 7.2 The post of Rector to the Benefice has been offered to the single applicant but it was declined as he prefers to stay in his home diocese. Feedback from the Archdeacon indicated that the profile was accurate, the Familiarisation Day worked well and the interview was good. Advertising again would start soon, but there had been two expressions of interest in the House for Duty post and this would go ahead as soon as possible before appointing the Rector. Rosemary Payne and Robert Shaw were thanked for their part in the interview process. The Archdeacon has renewed the licence of Revd Marilyn for a further 6 months. 7.3 Malcolm Piper requested that someone volunteer to shadow his work due to his possible move away from the village. 5 8. Closing Comment and Prayer Revd Marilyn was thanked for leading the church forward over the last year. Revd Marilyn thanked everyone for their support, and especially Revd Mike and Revd Frank. There being no other business, the meeting closed with prayer at 12.30 pm Signed _____________________________ Date ________________ 6 CHURCH ACTIVITY REPORTS FOR JANUARY – DECEMBER 2019 1. ELECTORAL ROLL In April 2019 a new electoral roll was established of 110 members for the AGM of St Peter’s PCC according to the Church of England representation rules. During the year up to the 31st December 2019 nil members have been added although 3 members have moved from the area and 2 members have died, bringing the year’s total on the electoral roll to 105 members as at 31st of December 2019. Peter Bradley Electoral Role Officer 2. PCC Six meetings were held during 2019 with an additional extraordinary meeting, with an average attendance of 12 members. The meetings were chaired by Revd Marilyn Peters. W Ravenhall and M Gunton resigned at the APCM, and D Child and B Child resigned in July 2019. They were thanked for their service and support over the years. Sarah Deall from the Diocesan Board of Finance continues to prepare the quarterly statements and annual accounts. We are very grateful to Malcolm and Sue Piper for continuing to handle the cash and pay bills. Rosemary Payne PCC Secretary 3. PRIEST-IN-CHARGE “The voice of one crying out in the wilderness; ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.’” (Matthew 3:3) Therefore, prepare your minds for action; discipline yourselves; set all your hope on the grace that Jesus Christ will bring you when he is revealed. (1Peter 1: 13) 2019 – a year of hopes and anticipation and problems and frustrations, in some ways like any other but in other ways unique and special. Like any other in that we had our challenges and disappointments, our high points and deep joys. We had times of spiritual depth and times of pessimism at what we wanted to achieve but didn’t.

  • Ccf Annual Report July14
MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR The most exciting part of my work during my first year as Chair of the Church and Community Fund has been discovering the breadth of innovative work that is being done in parishes throughout England. I’ve been moved and humbled by the imaginative projects which we have been able to support, many of them working in places of severe deprivation. These projects have shown that the church is acting in obedience to the call of the gospel, to serve our neighbour and to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ. In 2013 we awarded a total of 31 grants amounting to just over £490,000, one of which I am pleased to report was an award of our first grant to a project under Theme 3 (CCF community engagement replication grant). The trustees were excited to award £60,000 to The Feast, a deserving project that is winning international recognition for its work in healing our fractured communities. More about this Theme 3 project can be found on page 2 of this report. Under themes 1 and 2 – which focus on expanding the Church’s engagement with neighbourhood renewal or developing community projects that focus on church growth - we awarded a total of 30 grants. The average grant size awarded for Themes 1 and 2 was £14,440. You can read about the impact of some of these CCF funded projects on pages 3-5. I’d like to thank the many people who have supported the work of The CCF for their faithful service and prayers in this continuing ministry.

Interviews will take place at Sheffield Cathedral on Thursday 10th May 2007. The Very Revd Peter Bradley The Revd Canon Will Lamb Dean of Sheffield Anglican Chaplain, University of Sheffield Residentiary Canon, Sheffield Cathedral 1 Living in Sheffield Sheffield is a city of stark contrasts, having the wealthiest electoral ward in the country, but with a number of seriously deprived areas, mostly on the east side. There is some ethnic diversity, with Muslims of Pakistani origin being the largest minority. The different parts of the city tend to see themselves as villages, and the topography encourages this - Sheffield is built on seven hills (so they say).

  • Covenant Agreement Final
Covenant Partnership in Extended Area: Sheffield Preamble This agreement is made between the Sheffield Methodist District and Circuit and the Bishop of Sheffield and Diocese of Sheffield. The intention is to create a Covenant Partnership in Extended Area covering the city of Sheffield. 1. Context A Covenant Partnership in an Extended Area (CPEA) is intended to provide a framework of commitment for joint strategic thinking and action within an overlapping area of a diocese and a Methodist district. The aim is to bring together the following elements within the area: • Congregational sharing, worshipping, witnessing and working together; • The strong personal commitment and collegiality of church leaders at all levels; • Joint strategic planning. Within an extended area the emphasis should be on shared vision and common purpose, rooted in shared common life. The area of benefit is the City of Sheffield. The work will be undertaken by those parts of the Sheffield Methodist Circuit that fall within the City boundaries and the four Anglican Deaneries that fall within the City boundaries: Attercliffe, Ecclesfield, Ecclesall and Hallam. 2. Vision In light of the above, in recognition of the four key priorities of sharing mission, worship, ministry and resources as set out by the Methodist-Anglican Panel for Unity and Mission, and in gratitude for the trust and co-operation that already exists locally between our denominations we commit ourselves to: • seek new opportunities for shared witness, worship evangelism and service; • collaborate in the sharing and deployment of ministry; • work together for a more effective use of our resources; • empower the leaders of the Circuit and Deaneries to work together for the development of our covenant partnership; • work together to partner with other faith and non-faith bodies for the benefit of all in our communities subject to the appropriate Standing Orders of Methodist Conference and to the Canons of the Church of England.

  • Coronavirus Ad Clerum 5Th October 2020
Coronavirus Ad Clerum 5th October 2020 Dear Friends In you, Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame. In your righteousness, rescue me and deliver me; turn your ear to me and save me. Be my rock of refuge, to which I can always go; give the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress. Psalm 71: 1-3 Psalm 71 from Morning Prayer today, reminds us of God’s constant protection in our lives. By now many of us will be feeling weary of the impact of Covid 19 and as the weather changes and evenings are longer, the challenge to remain hopeful and trusting is perhaps more demanding. The image of God as our refuge is one that is repeated throughout scripture. The Hebrew word for refuge ‘chs’ means ‘support’ as in a wall against which we can confidently lean our whole weight. That is rather different from us hiding away and hoping the threat will pass. Rather it encourages us to act, confident that God is with us and will carry us in and through all that we face. Clearly we continue to heed all the guidance to stay safe in this time, but my prayer today is that you know God to be your refuge both personally and professionally, for yourself and those you live with and for the people among whom you serve. Church of England guidance update On Friday the C of E issued further guidance see here • New FAQs ‘Can we turn our heating on?’ (in the Fabric and building maintenance section) • Updated document on Mission and ministry with children and young people • Updated document on Outdoor Worship and Churchyards • New Document on Church Heating IICSA report to be published The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) will publish their final report on safeguarding in the Church of England tomorrow (Tuesday 6th October).

The sense of encouragement was very real to me and http://www.sheffield.AnglicAn.org/blog/guest- I will continue to draw on that in the days to come. In blog/bishop-pete-s-sermon-from-his-service-of- my sermon at the service (taking 2 Corinthians 8.1-9, instAllAtion and especially verse 9, as a text), I spoke about I was also able to say at the service how grateful Jesus, grace and generosity. • Coronavirus Ad Clerum 22Nd April 2020 Our Life Beyond… “And I
Coronavirus Ad Clerum 22nd April 2020 Our life beyond… “And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (Rev 21:3-4) Sometimes it is helpful to try and look at things from the finish rather than the start line. In the midst of this second phase of ‘lockdown’, many of the conversations have begun to focus more on what life will look like ‘afterwards’. It is hard for us to imagine. Those in leadership whether in government, healthcare or church are rightly cautious about exit strategies and the shape of our lives to come after this phase. As Christians we are taught to live as those whose citizenship is in heaven; where one day things will look very different from now and suffering, pain and death will be no more. Yesterday, the church remembered with thanksgiving St Anselm, Archbishop of Canterbury. He lived and died nearly a thousand years ago and knew the intensity of suffering in his own life and the complexities of leadership in his own day. As we seek to hold before us the vision of the heavenly city, may we find comfort in this prayer of St Anselm as we continue to pray for those in our care and all for whom we are concerned in these days.
