Declaration of Any Other Business: 0 items 4. Matters Arising None 5. Reports 5.1 Electoral Roll There are 110 members on the Electoral Roll. P Bradley was thanked for his work, especially during the full review of the roll. 5.2 PCC and Church Reports In addition to the reports circulated, two successful Craft Days should be added to the Special Events. Revd Marilyn thanked God for the range and number of activities in the church. 5.3 Treasurer’s Report Revd Marilyn thanked Malcolm Piper for all the day to day work in handling the money and paying the bills. It was asked if fund raising projects had been discussed as planned at last year’s APCM. Over the last 5 years the level of day to day giving had dropped from £36,000 to £25,000. Revd Marilyn explained that the PCC had met a fundraiser from Elford, who had conducted a successful campaign. But Yoxall was in a different position in that the church had substantial reserves, and it was not felt appropriate to ask the village for more than was already contributed through the fete etc. She added that it was the responsibility of those who worshipped in the church to support its day to day running. M Piper commented that taking out special costs, the church was losing £80 - £100 per week. If every adult in the congregation contributed an extra £2 per week the loss could be eliminated. Mission would encourage more people to come to church but it would be a long term goal to expect them to contribute to the church. Agreed: to accept the accounts for the year 2018. Proposed Revd Marilyn. All in favour. 4 6. Elections 6.1 Election of Lay Representatives to serve on the PCC Name Proposer Seconder Michael Binsley D Bell F Finch Peter Bradley W Bradley M Piper Warren Bradley R Shaw M Ravenhall Bill Child R Payne S Piper Diane Child R Payne S Piper Sue Phillips J Johnson K Davies Malcolm Piper P. Bradley V John Gay Richardson A Cregan G Moore Robert Shaw P Stone W Bradley Proposed: Revd Marilyn All in favour Revd M Binsley’s licence has changed from Ordained Local Minister to Permission to Officiate. He is therefore no longer automatically on the PCC but has to be nominated in the usual way. Revd Marilyn thanked him warmly for everything he did for the church. Wendy Ravenhall has retired from the PCC but will continue as Assistant Warden. Revd Marilyn thanked her for all she contributed to the PCC and the church. 6.2 Election of Sidesmen and Sideswomen The following were elected to serve as sidesmen and sideswomen: Elizabeth Binsley; Deanne Bell; Jane Bradley; Warren Bradley; Peter Bradley; Valerie Bradley; Molly Gunton; Bill Child; Diane Child; Simon James; Jenny James; Ken Loukes; Diana Muir; Rosemary Payne; Michael Payne; Sue Piper; Malcolm Piper; Michael Ravenhall; Wendy Ravenhall; Shirley Scriven; Ann Stone; Peter Stone; Margaret Swinnerton. All in favour. 6.3 Appointment of Auditor Agreed that the Diocesan Board of Finance should be approved auditor for the coming year. All in favour 7. Any Other Business 7.1 M Ravenhall asked to be kept informed of any changes in the price of the Fisherman. 7.2 The post of Rector to the Benefice has been offered to the single applicant but it was declined as he prefers to stay in his home diocese. Feedback from the Archdeacon indicated that the profile was accurate, the Familiarisation Day worked well and the interview was good. Advertising again would start soon, but there had been two expressions of interest in the House for Duty post and this would go ahead as soon as possible before appointing the Rector. Rosemary Payne and Robert Shaw were thanked for their part in the interview process. The Archdeacon has renewed the licence of Revd Marilyn for a further 6 months. 7.3 Malcolm Piper requested that someone volunteer to shadow his work due to his possible move away from the village. 5 8. Closing Comment and Prayer Revd Marilyn was thanked for leading the church forward over the last year. Revd Marilyn thanked everyone for their support, and especially Revd Mike and Revd Frank. There being no other business, the meeting closed with prayer at 12.30 pm Signed _____________________________ Date ________________ 6 CHURCH ACTIVITY REPORTS FOR JANUARY – DECEMBER 2019 1. They were thanked for their service and support over the years. Sarah Deall from the Diocesan Board of Finance continues to prepare the quarterly statements and annual accounts. We are very grateful to Malcolm and Sue Piper for continuing to handle the cash and pay bills. Rosemary Payne PCC Secretary 3. PRIEST-IN-CHARGE “The voice of one crying out in the wilderness; ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.’” (Matthew 3:3) Therefore, prepare your minds for action; discipline yourselves; set all your hope on the grace that Jesus Christ will bring you when he is revealed. (1Peter 1: 13) 2019 – a year of hopes and anticipation and problems and frustrations, in some ways like any other but in other ways unique and special. Like any other in that we had our challenges and disappointments, our high points and deep joys. We had times of spiritual depth and times of pessimism at what we wanted to achieve but didn’t.
