Exhortation Psalm 124:8; Psalm 130:3–4; Luke 18:13 (203) Beloved in the Lord! Let us draw near with a true heart and confess our sins unto God our Father, beseeching Him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to grant us forgiveness.

Our help is in the name of the Lord...... who made heaven and earth. If You, O Lord, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand? But with You there is forgiveness; therefore You are feared. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Confession of Sins Let us then confess our sins to God our Father. Most merciful God, we confess that we are by nature sinful and unclean. We justly deserve your present and eternal punishment. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Preparation to Receive The Lord's Supper 1 Corinthians 11:27-29 As Lutheran Christians, we believe that when God gives to us His means of grace, His Word and Sacraments carry the power and promise of forgiveness and eternal life. We receive these gifts in brokenness for the restoration of body and soul as individuals and as the Body of Christ. As such, we do not so lightly or without regard, so we are called to first examine ourselves and consider our unworthiness to receive such gifts, and then come to His table to made be made whole in Christ. 1. Can you admit that you are a sinner? 2. Are you sorry for your sins? 3. Do you believe that Jesus died and rose again for your sins? 4. Do you intend, with God’s help, to change your sinful life? 5. Do you believe as Jesus says, that his true body and blood are present in a real and mysterious way with the bread and the wine in the Lord’s Supper?
