Thank God for a blower that occasionally works. So, what do we do? Call several tree removal services and see who can get the job done soon and affordably. -

Passamos a transcrever a entrevista que Valéria nos concedeu e que agradecemos. Festivais da Canção – Que significado tem para si pisar o palco do Festival da Canção? Valéria – Pisar o palco do Festival da Canção é concretizar um sonho que sempre considerei inatingível. É uma oportunidade de poder viver um sonho, e dar um pouco de mim ao meu país. FC – Como encarou e surgiu o convite do seu compositor para participar no Festival da Canção deste ano? Valéria – O Hélder Moutinho foi sempre uma referência para mim. Um certo dia, surgiu a oportunidade de ir cantar á casa de fados dele “Maria da Mouraria”, e foi nesse dia que conheci o Hélder. Pouco tempo depois ele convidou-me para ser vocalista de um projeto que estivera a executar, o qual eu aceitei. Ainda em 2020, recebi um telefonema do Hélder Moutinho onde ele me noticia o convite por parte da organização do Festival para ser um dos autores deste ano, e convida-me para ser a intérprete da música. -

A Burnaby School District Publication, An Eclectic Collection of Words represents the best in student writing from Burnaby’s WORDS Writing Project for 2008/09. An Eclectic Cover art by Burnaby South Secondary grade 12 student Min Kyong Song. Collection of Words Thank you to our sponsors for their continued support: 2008/09 ANTHOLOGY Burnaby’s WORDS Writing Project includes creative writing submissions from K-12 students throughout the district. With no theme provided, the topics are endless – from stories of adventure to journeys of introspection, from lighthearted poetry to verse that is poignant in its insight. Their submissions are reviewed by a panel of judges with a background in writing and communications. They are grouped according to age or grade, while the students name and school remain anonymous. Submissions from the following students were selected for publication in the 2008/09 WORDS Anthology, An Eclectic Collection of Words , to showcase the talent of Burnaby’s aspiring young writers. PAUL YOUNG in the Middle of the 1980S, Paul Young Became One Of
PAUL YOUNG In the middle of the 1980s, Paul Young became one of the biggest pop stars in the world, creating a body of work that endures to this day. A blend of the old school and new school, he was the epitome of someone who had worked his way up from – quite literally – the factory floor to become a superstar, scoring number one singles on both sides of the Atlantic. When he broke through in 1983, his Anthony Price besuited look was one of two iconic pop images in the UK that year. The other was David Bowie, then under his serious moonlight. Paul Young was born in the rock’n’roll era and grew up during the beat boom. Born in Luton in January 1956, he took piano lessons, was a self- taught guitarist, and as a teenager, fell under the thrall of Island Records. Young loved Free and because of them, he began listening to things around the margins, things that they listened to. He wanted to play bass like Andy Fraser and sing like Paul Rodgers. “I was always drawn towards to blues and soul.” Young recalls. “Even though Free had had a hit with ‘All Right Now’, they were a blues band, they knew they needed a pop song, so they wrote a pop song, and it was a hit. But when you look at their other stuff, they went straight back to the blues.” In 1972, aged 16, Young took up a position at the Vauxhall manufacturing plant in Luton, serving an apprenticeship just like his father before him. -

(Signature, Date) Abstract This thesis aims to provide a comprehensive and systematic analysis about the growing popularity of Korean pop music (K-pop) worldwide in recent years. On one hand, the international expansion of K-pop can be understood as a result of the strategic planning and business execution that are created and carried out by the entertainment agencies. On the other hand, external circumstances such as the rise of social media also create a wide array of opportunities for K-pop to broaden its global appeal. The research explores the ways how the interplay between external circumstances and organizational strategies has jointly contributed to the global circulation of K-pop. The research starts with providing a general descriptive overview of K-pop. Following that, quantitative methods are applied to measure and assess the international recognition and global spread of K-pop. Next, a systematic approach is used to identify and analyze factors and forces that have important influences and implications on K-pop’s globalization. The analysis is carried out based on three levels of business environment which are macro, operating, and internal level. PEST analysis is applied to identify critical macro-environmental factors including political, economic, socio-cultural, and technological. -
