Season ticket renewal information and invoices for FSL Account Holders will be mailed in January of each year with a due date of March 1. Parking permit information will be mailed to all FSL account holders in February/March of each year. Parking permits will go on sale after the annual giving deadline (typically early April) with a deadline of early May. Season tickets and parking must be paid in full by the respective due dates. Annual Giving Requirement and Season Ticket Purchase Green Tier FSLs Each FSL account holder who owns between 1-4 green tier FSLS may choose to make an annual gift to the Athletic Foundation at the Forty-Niner membership level (currently $250) to guarantee their seat location. The location of the seats for FSL account holders who do not make the optional donation will be determined on an annual basis first by the Athletic Foundation according to the FSL account holder’s rank and then at the discretion of the Athletic Foundation. In order to purchase more than 4 FSLs at the FSL account holder’s rank, the FSL account holder must make an annual gift to the Athletic Foundation’s Annual Fund based on the levels outlined below. The first such annual contribution must be made between July 1 and April 1 of the year in which the FSLs are purchased, and unless otherwise specified by the Athletic Foundation will be due by April 1 of each subsequent year. Levels are subject to change at the Athletic Foundation’s discretion. # of Tickets Membership Level Current Amount 1-4 Forty-Niner $250 (optional – due April 1 if elected) 5-8 Green Jacket $1,500 9-12 Golden Plus $2,500 13-16 Golden Advantage $5,000 As long as the FSL account holder makes the associated Annual Gift based on the number of tickets as outlined above and purchases season tickets to designated seats by the specified deadlines, the location of FSL account holder’s previous year’s FSLs will be reserved for FSL account holder. If FSL account holder does not purchase season tickets to designated seats by a specified deadline each year as determined by the Athletic Ticket Office, the account holder’s FSLs will be terminated, and account holder will forfeit all monies paid to the Athletic Foundation and all rights to buy season tickets associated with those seats for the upcoming season and all seasons that follow. The Athletic Foundation will have the right to relicense the forfeited FSLs with no further obligation to the former account holder. 1 Tickets for all home games will be mailed to the individual or corporation in whose name the FSL is held. Neither the Athletic Foundation nor the Athletic Ticket Office shall have any responsibility for subsequent distribution of tickets in the event that they are held for group purposes. Gold Tier FSLs Each FSL account holder who owns gold tier FSLs must make an annual gift to the Athletic Foundation’s Annual Fund based on the levels outlined below. The first such annual contribution must be made between July 1 and April 1 of the year in which the FSLs are purchased, and unless otherwise specified by the Athletic Foundation will be due by April 1 of each subsequent year. Levels are subject to change at the Athletic Foundation’s discretion. # of Tickets Membership Level Current Amount 1-4 Green Jacket $1,500 5-8 Golden Plus $2,500 9-12 Golden Advantage $5,000 13-16 Coaches’ Circle $8,500 As long as the FSL account holder makes the associated Annual Gift based on the number of tickets as outlined above and purchases season tickets to designated seats by the specified deadlines, the location of FSL account holder’s previous year’s FSLs will be reserved for FSL account holder. Tickets for all home games will be mailed to the individual or corporation in whose name the FSL is held. Neither the Athletic Foundation nor the Athletic Ticket Office shall have any responsibility for subsequent distribution of tickets in the event that they are held for group purposes. The Athletic Foundation will have the right to relicense the forfeited FSLs with no further obligation to the former account holder. Reprieve on Season Ticket Purchase FSL Account Holders will be given the option of a one-time, one-year reprieve on the purchase of season tickets. Should the FSL Account Holder choose to exercise this option, the request must be made in writing to the Charlotte 49ers Ticket Office prior to the season ticket purchase deadline. The reprieve will be granted for one year only after which time the FSL Account Holder becomes responsible again for the purchase of season tickets. Please note that seat location will not be guaranteed upon return the following season. However, every attempt will be made to find a comparable location. If the FSL Account Holder is unable to purchase season tickets for the seaso following the reprieve, the FSLs associated with the account will be forfeited in accordance with the policies stated in the FSL Agreement. 2 49er Club Membership The Charlotte 49ers Athletic Foundation provides scholarship assistance to over 400 male and female student-athletes in 18 varsity sports. Established in 1969, the Athletic Foundation has developed into a vitally important support group, pursuing excellence, integrity and pride in the University’s athletic program. The 49er Club, the Athletic Foundation’s official booster organization, offers membership to both individuals and businesses. Methods of Contribution: Alumni and friends of the Charlotte 49ers support athletic and academic excellence through a variety of annual and special gifts. Each donor can elect to give in a way that best suits his or her personal preference. The most common methods of giving are listed below: Cash and Other Gifts: Includes company and personal checks, American Express, VISA and MasterCard, as well as the donation of stocks, securities and real estate. Employer Matching Gifts: Doubles or triples the impact of your gift, and increases your membership level and associated benefits. Contact the Athletic Foundation for more information on matching gifts. Athletic Scholarship Endowments: Can be named in honor of individual or organization. Provides annually for a student-athlete’s tuition, room, meals, books and fees. In-Kind Gifts: Includes any professional service, product or equipment which is of use to the Athletic Foundation. Planned and Estate Gifts: Includes life income arrangements from trusts, annuities, pooled income funds, etc. as well as life insurance policies and individual estate bequests, such as cash or real estate. Payroll Deduction: Current UNC Charlotte faculty and staff may choose to make their annual giving contribution via payroll deduction. Please contact the Athletic Foundation for additional information. Tax Implications: All contributions to the 49er Club are considered gifts to the Charlotte 49ers Athletic Foundation and are credited at full value for purposes of the member's Athletic Foundation record. Due to changes in the tax code that went into effect January 1, 2018, the University's tax counsel has advised that amounts paid to obtain seat licenses are no longer treated as 80% deductible as charitable contributions. Additionally, amounts contributed to the 49er Club to guarantee seating at Jerry Richardson Stadium in the Green Tier and Gold Tier FSL sections are considered a benefit to the FSL holder and do not qualify as a charitable deduction for income tax purposes. Amounts given to the 49er Club above the applicable required giving level do qualify as a charitable deduction for income tax purposes to the extent the contribution exceeds the value of any benefits received. Each tier's contribution level is based on the number of FSLs owned by the donor (see chart on pages 1-2). For example, if a Green Tier FSL Holder who owns four FSLs contributes $600, then $350 of the contribution amount would qualify as a charitable deduction for income tax purposes. If a Gold Tier FSL Holder who owns four FSLs contributes $5,000, then $3,500 of the contribution amount would qualify as a charitable deduction for income tax purposes. If a 49er Club member does not own a FSL, then his/her contribution would qualify for a charitable deduction to the extent it exceeds the value of any benefits received. As always, we encourage you to consult your tax advisor for more information or specific guidelines related to your personal giving. 3 Priority Point System Athletic Foundation donors receive priority seating assignments in the Charlotte 49ers football stadium for football season tickets and in Halton Arena for men’s basketball season tickets.
