The program debuted in 2013 and played for two years (2013, 2014) as an FCS Independent before making the jump to the FBS and Confer- ence USA in 2015. The 49ers were invited to be a member of Conference USA in the summer of 2012 – be- fore holding their first practice. ** The 49ers will move to Conference USA in 2015 with an opportunity to gain full FBS member status with bowl eligibility in 2016. ** Head coach Brad Lambert and his 10-man full-time staff have 115 years of collegiate coaching experience. Lambert (26) and coordinators Jeff Mullen (24) and Matt Wallerstedt (23) each have over 20 years of colle- giate coaching experience. ** The 49ers coaching staff includes three changes from 2014: Defensive Coordinator Matt Wallerstedt will be in his first season with the 49ers and will be in charge of the inside linebackers. Former NFL and Wake Forest standout Aaron Curry was promoted to a full-time position as Defensive Line Coach after spending the 2014 season as a Defensive Graduate Assistant. Former 49er Mark Hogan, who scored the 49ers historic first touchdown on an interception return, was hired as a defensive graduate assistant. ** In addition to the 16 players that signed with the 49ers in February, the 49ers roster is bolstered by the arriv- al of true freshman Cameron Clark (6-5; 260 OL), who signed in December and enrolled in January, a handful of transfers who sat out the 2014 season and will be ready for action in 2015: WR Uriah LeMay (Georgia), DL Josh Manley (Syracuse), RB Garrison Duncan (Delaware State) and DB Anthony Covington (Appalachian State) and the return of three players who missed all or most of the 2014 season due to injury: ILB Caleb Clayton-Molby; ILB Nick Cook; DL Devon Johnson. Clayton-Molby started the first three games as an inside linebacker and was the 49ers top returning tackler from 2013.
