RESUMO Desde que alcançou enorme sucesso comercial em 2014, a rapper australiana Iggy Azalea tem sido tema de várias controvérsias envolvendo questionamentos de sua autenticidade, reprovações de sua mistura entre pop e rap, acusações de desrespeito e apropriação da cultura negra e críticas pelo fato dela se apresentar usando um sotaque associado a rappers negros do sul dos EUA. Neste trabalho, parto de uma discussão sobre as noções de autenticidade do pop e do rap, o lugar do rap dentro do mercado de música pop americana e a popularização do rap promovida pela globalização para observar os julgamentos da autenticidade de Azalea feitos por revistas e artistas de rap dos EUA, assim como as reivindicações de autenticidade feitas pela própria australiana. Depois disso, analiso algumas performances de Azalea no intuito de perceber como ela realiza negociações entre pop e rap no que eu chamo de uma performance de uma noção de autenticidade do pop-rap, e como essas negociações ajudam a elucidar as tensões entre esses gêneros, e também questões de raça, classe e Gênero. ABSTRACT Since she achieved a huge comercial success in 2014, the australian rapper Iggy Azalea has been the subject of several controversies involving questionings of her authenticity, disapprovals of her mixture between pop and rap, accusations of disrespect and appropriation of black culture and criticisms regarding the fact that she performs using an accent associated with black rappers from the South of the United States. In this work, I start from a discussion about the notions of authenticity of pop and rap, rap’s place within the american pop music market and the popularization of rap promoted by globalization to investigate the judgements of Azalea’s authenticity made by rap magazines and artists from the US as well as the claims of authenticity made by Iggy herself. After that, I analyze some of Azalea’s performances in the intent of perceiving how she makes negotiations between pop and rap in her performance of what I call a pop- rap authenticity, and how these negotiations help to elucidate the tensions between these genres, as well as matters of race, class and gender. Title: 100 Years of ISIS - 100 Years of History of Greek Science Abstract: However symbolic they may be, the years 1913-2013 correspond to a dramatic transformation in the approach to the history of ancient science, particularly Greek science. Whereas in the early 20th century, the Danish historian of sciences Johan Ludvig Heiberg (1854-1928) was publishing the second edition of Archimedes’ works, in the early 21st century the study of Archimedes' contribution has been dramatically transformed thanks to the technological analysis of the famous palimpsest. This session will explore the historiography of Greek science broadly understood during the 20th century, including the impact of science and technology applied to ancient documents and texts. This session will be in the form of an open workshop starting with three short papers (each focusing on a segment of the period of time under consideration, Antiquity, Byzantium, Post-Byzantine period) aiming at generating a discussion. It is expected that the report of the discussion will lead to the publication of a paper surveying the historiography of Greek science during the 20th century. Title: Acid Rain Acid Science Acid Debates Abstract: The debate about the nature and effect of airborne acid rain became a formative environmental debate in the 1970s, particularly in North America and northern Europe. Based on the scientific, political, and social views of the observers, which rationality and whose knowledge one should trust in determining facts became an issue. The papers in this session discuss why scientists from different countries and socio-political backgrounds came to different conclusions about the extent of acidification.
