Wih 35 easy to perform tricks and over 30 zombie hemed props, you’re guaranteed to amaze family and friends wih dead good magic from beyond he grave! Pracice Tips: A good tip to remember is that magic is only as good as the presentation. The tricks provided in this set can be mastered fairly easily, but to get the most out of Zombie Magic, you must practice. Once you have learned the stages of a trick, we suggest that you practice them in front of a mirror many times until you know all the moves you need to make without really thinking about them. It’s also really useful to remember that what your audience can see is often completely different to how it looks it you. It is really helpful if you can video your practice from the angle your audience would be viewing and play it back to see how it will look. Start out by performing a single trick. Once you have that mastered, you can then look at adding extra tricks until you have built up a routine. The story you tell around each trick is also important to help draw your audience in. We have suggested some words on some tricks, but have fun making up your own stories. EXTRA HELP: The instructions in this lealet describe how each trick should be performed, but trying to describe a trick can sometimes be confusing, which is why if you head over to the Zombie Magic section on our website www.johnadams.co.uk you will ind instructional videos of the harder tricks which will show you exactly what to do. Secret – the bone can’t hook the rubber band, but you make your audience think it can by performing the “special move”, making the bone move. You will need: • The leg bone with the hook at one end • The severed foot with rubber band “tendon” The trick: • Say, “Looks like this zombie’s leg bone has become detached from the tendon. I’ll try and re-hook it.” • Push the bone as far as it will go into the foot and then pull it out about 25mm • Special move: squeeze your thumb and foreinger together so the bone slips away from your ingers and shoots forward, back into the foot, looking like the tendon has made it spring back. • Repeat that action, making the bone shoot forward a few times, then pull the bone out pretending the tendon has become unhooked. Let an audience member try…they will never be able to do it. Trick 2 – Zombie chase Trick - cards showing a man running from a hoard of zombies are dealt face down. Turn them over to magically reveal what happens when the zombies catch him. Secret – a special half card showing the top half of the man hides the images below. You will need: • 4 running zombie cards • Running Eric half card • Stretchy band Seting Up: • Stack the 4 running zombie cards with the Eric half card on top. Hide the edge of the half card with the stretchy band. The trick: • Show the back of the card stack to your audience. • Say, “Poor Eric is running for his life from a horde of zombies.” • Show the front of the card stack and point to Eric. Say, “He is running really fast.” • Turn the stack face down and deal the bottom card, face down towards you. Your spectator thinks you are dealing the card you just showed them, but the secret half card will stay banded to the front of the stack. • Turn the stack over and show Eric running again. Say, “He keeps on running.” • Turn the stack face down again and deal a second card. • Repeat a third time. • Say, “Did Eric get away?” • Wave your hand over the cards and say, “Sadly I think Eric was too slow.” • Let the spectator turn the cards over. They will be amazed to see that all the pictures of Eric have turned into zombies. Trick 3 – Creepy coffin Trick - make objects appear and disappear inside this creepy cofin. Secret – there is a secret drawer inside the cofin which only you know how to open. You will need: • Creepy cofin • A maggot Seting Up: • With the cofin held in your left hand as shown, press your thumb against side B. This releases the secret drawer latch. Open the drawer and place a maggot inside. Close the drawer and press your index inger against side A to lock the secret drawer in place. The trick: • Say, “I can hear something trying to get out of this cofin, can you?” • Keeping your inger pressed against side A, open the drawer, to reveal an empty space, then close it. • Say, “Oh, my mistake. I thought I could hear something, let me check again.” • Open the drawer again to reveal nothing. Close the drawer. • Say, “Wait, what was that? Is it a zombie?” • Place your right hand lat on top of the cofin. Lifting your hands to your ear, pretend to listen. • Press your thumb against side B as you lower your hands. • Take your right hand away. • Continuing to press your thumb against side B, open the drawer to reveal the maggot. • Say, “Phew, thankfully it’s only a maggot, but where did that come from?” Trick 4 – Appearing zombie Trick - the 2 of spades magically transforms into a zombie. Secret – a half-card hides the secretly placed extra card. You will need: • Ordinary cards x 2 (Ace and 3 of spades) • Walking zombie card • Half card (2 of spades) Seting Up: • Stick the half card onto the Ace of spades with a small piece of tape following the line printed on the Ace. • Hide the Zombie card behind the half 2 of spades. • Position the 3 of spades on top to form a fan of cards so it looks like three normal cards. The trick: • Say, “You never know when a Zombie is lurking in the shadows.” • Show the fanned out the cards face side up, and ask your audience member to identify the middle card. They will say, “2 of Spades.” • Turn the cards over and ask them again what the middle card was. Then ask them to gently pull out the middle card and as they do so, ask if they can hear zombie groans. • Arrange the two remaining cards so as to hide the half-card, then turn them face up to show the cards like this. (OPPOSITE) • Say, “I can really hear a zombie, are you sure you can’t?” • Tell your volunteer to turn their card face up and watch their expression. Trick 5 – Brain jar Trick – a zombie brain in a specimen jar magically reappears. Secret - the half brain is concealed in the lid of the specimen jar. You will need: • The brain jar and lid • The brain • The half-brain Seting Up: • Place the whole brain into the base of the brain jar and place the half brain on top. Now place the brain jar lid on top. The trick: • Say, “Here we have a pickled zombie head in a specimen jar.” • Start by lifting the lid and the secret half brain together to reveal the full brain. • Say, “Look at that lovely zombie brain.” • Take out the full brain and place it in your pocket. • Replace the lid onto the jar base keeping the half brain secretly covered. • Say, “Zombie brains are really unique, sometimes they grow back!” • Wave your hand in front of the jar, then lift up only the lid, keeping the half-brain in place, and it looks like the brain has reappeared. Trick 6 – Pulverised brain Trick - let your audience think you have pulverised the brain into a pulp. You will need: • Brain jar and lid • Half-brain • Blancmange (not supplied) Seting up: • Ask an adult to make up some blancmange in a similar colour to the brain. When set, scoop enough to ill the compartment in the bottom of the brain jar. Place the half-brain on top and the lid on top of that. The trick: • Lift the lid of the jar to show the half brain. • Say, “OK, I’m going to pulverise this zombie brain into a pulp.” • Place the lid back on and pick up the whole jar.
