Wih 35 easy to perform tricks and over 30 zombie hemed props, you’re guaranteed to amaze family and friends wih dead good magic from beyond he grave! Pracice Tips: A good tip to remember is that magic is only as good as the presentation. The tricks provided in this set can be mastered fairly easily, but to get the most out of Zombie Magic, you must practice. Once you have learned the stages of a trick, we suggest that you practice them in front of a mirror many times until you know all the moves you need to make without really thinking about them. It’s also really useful to remember that what your audience can see is often completely different to how it looks it you. It is really helpful if you can video your practice from the angle your audience would be viewing and play it back to see how it will look. Start out by performing a single trick. Once you have that mastered, you can then look at adding extra tricks until you have built up a routine. The story you tell around each trick is also important to help draw your audience in. We have suggested some words on some tricks, but have fun making up your own stories.

EXTRA HELP: The instructions in this lealet describe how each trick should be performed, but trying to describe a trick can sometimes be confusing, which is why if you head over to the Zombie Magic section on our website www.johnadams.co.uk you will ind instructional videos of the harder tricks which will show you exactly what to do. Secret – the bone can’t hook the rubber band, but you make your audience think it can by performing the “special move”, making the bone move. You will need: • The leg bone with the hook at one end • The severed foot with rubber band “tendon” The trick: • Say, “Looks like this zombie’s leg bone has become detached from the tendon. I’ll try and re-hook it.” • Push the bone as far as it will go into the foot and then pull it out about 25mm • Special move: squeeze your thumb and foreinger together so the bone slips away from your ingers and shoots forward, back into the foot, looking like the tendon has made it spring back. • Repeat that action, making the bone shoot forward a few times, then pull the bone out pretending the tendon has become unhooked. Let an audience member try…they will never be able to do it.

Trick 2 – Zombie chase Trick - cards showing a man running from a hoard of zombies are dealt face down. Turn them over to magically reveal what happens when the zombies catch him. Say, “He is running really fast.” • Turn the stack face down and deal the bottom card, face down towards you. Your spectator thinks you are dealing the card you just showed them, but the secret half card will stay banded to the front of the stack. • Turn the stack over and show Eric running again. Say, “He keeps on running.” • Turn the stack face down again and deal a second card. • Repeat a third time. • Say, “Did Eric get away?” • Wave your hand over the cards and say, “Sadly I think Eric was too slow.” • Let the spectator turn the cards over. They will be amazed to see that all the pictures of Eric have turned into zombies. Trick 3 – Creepy coffin Trick - make objects appear and disappear inside this creepy cofin. I thought I could hear something, let me check again.” • Open the drawer again to reveal nothing. Close the drawer. • Say, “Wait, what was that? Is it a zombie?” • Place your right hand lat on top of the cofin. Lifting your hands to your ear, pretend to listen. • Press your thumb against side B as you lower your hands. • Take your right hand away. • Continuing to press your thumb against side B, open the drawer to reveal the maggot. • Say, “Phew, thankfully it’s only a maggot, but where did that come from?”

They will say, “2 of Spades.” • Turn the cards over and ask them again what the middle card was. Then ask them to gently pull out the middle card and as they do so, ask if they can hear zombie groans. • Arrange the two remaining cards so as to hide the half-card, then turn them face up to show the cards like this. (OPPOSITE) • Say, “I can really hear a zombie, are you sure you can’t?” • Tell your volunteer to turn their card face up and watch their expression. The trick: • Lift the lid of the jar to show the half brain. • Say, “OK, I’m going to pulverise this zombie brain into a pulp.” • Place the lid back on and pick up the whole jar. Shake for around 10 seconds. • Now, pretend to be out of breath as you put the jar back down. • Lift off the lid along with the half brain. • Put your inger into the blancmange and scoop some out as you show it to the audience and say how yucky it feels.

Trick 7 – Stab he brain Trick – stab the 8 swords through a zombie’s brain, but when the swords are removed, they have done no harm. Secret – the irst sword is placed so it tips the brain onto its side allowing the other swords to pass through the head. You will need: • Zombie head • Brain disk • Thin swords x 8 Seting Up: • Lay the brain disk lat inside the base of the zombie head. • Place the top section of the zombie head on top. The trick: • Say, “Zombie’s must be stabbed in the brain to kill them, but it will only work if you hit the right part.” • Remove the top of the zombie’s head to show your audience the brain disk in the bottom section. • Replace the top section and push the irst sword through the back right hole. Even though this will be easy, pretend that it is hard work stabbing through the solid brain disk.(OPPOSITE) • The irst sword placed, tips the brain up, allowing room for the other swords to pass through. • Push swords through the other holes, showing the audience that they pass out the bottom of the head. • Say, “I’m not sure I got the brain let’s see.” • Pull out the swords, saving the original sword for last. • Shake the head slightly so that the brain disk lies down lat. • Lift off the top of the head to show the unharmed brain. • Say, “Amazing, the swords passed through without even making a mark.” Thumb Tip Tricks Sizing your humb ip: Put the thumb tip on the thumb of your right hand. You will probably notice it is quite large and doesn’t look the same colour as your skin. Don’t worry, your audience will never notice. The thumb tip should it up to the knuckle. If it goes too far, you will have a hard time removing it and also won’t have room to conceal hidden items. If the thumb tip does not it correctly, ask an ADULT to drop it into hot water for 30 seconds. Remove it with tongs and shake it dry. Now either push your thumb to stretch it, or squeeze the tip around your thumb to make it smaller. Once the desired it has been achieved, place your thumb with the tip in place into cold water to harden it again. When wearing your thumb tip as part of the illusion, it is important to show your hands are “empty”. To best way to do this is always having your open palms towards your audience. By pointing your thumb tip directly at the audience, and moving your hands at the same time, it will be almost impossible for the spectators to notice the thumb tip.

Trick 8 – Vanishing handkerchief Trick – make the blood stained handkerchief disappear. • Now pull out the “secret band” from the thumb tip with your right hand.

• Use scissors to cut the band.

• Put the cut “secret band” back into the thumb tip. Pretend to push the band into your ist with your right thumb and as you do this, replace the thumb tip onto your right thumb which has the cut secret band inside.

• Say some magic words, blow on your left ist and slowly open your ingers to reveal the uncut second band which your audience will think has magically stuck back together. Trick 13 – Crazy plant pots Trick – challenge your audience to turn all the pots so they are open side up by moving just 2 pots at a time. Secret – with a slightly different starting positon it is impossible to replicate your moves. You will need: • 3 Plant pots The trick: • Start with the plant pots as shown.

• Turning 2 pots at a time, follow this sequence asking your audience to remember the moves: Move 1 - Turn 1&2 Move 2 - Turn 1&3 Move 3 - Turn 1&2 • All the pots should now be open side up. • With both outside pots facing up and the middle down, ask a volunteer to follow the moves you just showed them and inish with all the pots rim up again. • The pots will all inish rim down…the different starting position is hardly ever noticed. Trick 14 – Pots and maggots Trick – the maggots seem to pass through the solid plant pots. You will need: • 3 Plant pots • 4 Maggots Seting up: • Place a maggot on top of one of the upturned plant pots and cover it with the other two pots. Turn the pots open side up and place the other three maggots inside the top pot. The trick: • Lift up the three pots with your left hand and tip out the three maggots onto the table. • Using your right hand, place the pots one at a time, open side down onto the table. The skill of this trick is to smoothly turn over all three pots at the same speed, including the pot containing the hidden maggot over so that the maggot does not fall out. • Place a maggot on top of the middle pot.

• Cover the middle pot (the one with the maggot on top) with the other two pots. • Tap the top of the pots and lift all three pots up together. The maggot looks like it has fallen through the middle pot and is now on the table. • With your right hand, repeat turning the pots over one at a time onto the table, open side down. When the middle pot is turned over make sure the middle pot covers the maggot on the table. This means there will be two maggots under the middle pot. • Place another maggot on top of the middle pot and cover that pot with the other two pots. • Tap the top of the pots and lift all three pots up together. The maggot looks like it has fallen through the middle pot and is now two maggots on the table. • Repeat this process, adding a new maggot each time, until on the fourth time, lifting the pots reveals four maggots on the table.

You will need: • Full brain The trick: • With both of your palms upturned, place the brain in the palm of your right hand. • As you bring your right hand towards your left, curl the inger of your right hand upwards into a claw shape. This momentarily conceals the brain from your audience’s view and pushes it into the correct position so that with a slight contraction of your right thumb and little inger, you can “palm” (hold) the brain in between the leshy parts of your right hand. This will hold it irmly whilst you move your hand about. • Now turn your right hand over above your upturned left hand. Your audience will think the brain is being dropped into your left hand. • Curl your left hand ingers around the “pretend” brain and at the same time draw your right hand away with your right index inger extended pointing at your left hand to draw attention away from the fact that the brain is in fact palmed in your right hand. • Make a squeezing motion with your left hand to suggest you are crushing the brain. • After a few seconds, blow on your left hand and slowly open the ingers to reveal the brain has vanished.
