Current Research in Environmental & Applied Mycology (Journal of Fungal Biology) 8(2), 254–281, Doi 10.5943/cream/8/2/10 Abstract Tropical forests are a haven of biodiversity hosting the richest macrofungi in the World. However, the rate of forest loss greatly exceeds the rate of species documentation and this increases the risk of losing macrofungi diversity to extinction. A field study was carried out in Kereita, Kikuyu Escarpment Forest, southern part of Aberdare range forest to determine effect of indigenous forest conversion to plantation forest on diversity of macrofungi. Macrofungi diversity was assessed in a 22 year old Pinus patula (Pine) plantation and a pristine indigenous forest during dry (short rains, December, 2014) and wet (long rains, May, 2015) seasons.

In April of2006 and 2008, expeditions were led to document the diversity of plants, amphibians, marine invertebrates and macrofungi on the West African islands of Sao Tome and Principe. This project aims to further document the diversity of macrofungi on the island by focusing on 24 mycenoid fungi collected from the expedition. Nineteen distinct species are recognized, of which nine are new to science.

KRISAI-GREILHUBER: Roridomyces appendiculalus Mycena rorida (SCOP.: FR.) QUEL. was excluded from the genus Mycemi by MAAS GEESTERANUS (1989: 346, 1991: 565) because of the entirely different hymeniform pileipellis structure. However, he did not erect a new genus for it. In his thesis REXER (1994: 132) created the new genus Roridomvces with Mycena rorida as type. He re- combined several tropical species from this relationship in Roridomyces and published the new European species, Roridomyces appendiculatus REXER. At that time in the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature PhD theses were mostly considered as indelible autographs (GREUTER 1994). According to the code (GRFiUTER 1994, 2000) taxonomic novelties in indelible autographs produced after 1 January 1953 are not ef- fectively published.

  • Mycological Notes 26: Draft Key to Amyloid-Spored Group of New Zealand Mycena Species and Closely Allied Genera Jerry Cooper, October 2014
Mycological Notes 26: Draft Key to amyloid-spored group of New Zealand Mycena species and closely allied genera Jerry Cooper, October 2014 Mycena is a common genus of saprophytic fungi on wood and litter. The species are generally small and rather drab looking but can often dominate when the conditions are right. Whilst many are LBMs (little brown mushrooms) there are some very noticeable species such as the common blue Mycena interrupta, and the bright red and sticky Cruentomycena viscidocruenta. The former has a small related species that is bioluminescent (Mycena ‘Crystal Falls’), whilst the red Cruentomycena viscidocruenta is probably an introduction from Australia. After a long dormancy period from the first records in the 1960’s this species has spread rapidly in recent years across South Island, much like the exotic orange Favolaschia calocera, which is also closely related to Mycena. In New Zealand, like elsewhere, the genus is diverse. Many of our species are endemic with a number of introduced species in modified habitats, which is a common pattern for New Zealand saprophytic fungi. A number appear to be common between New Zealand and Australia, and a few appear to have a global distribution. This pattern contrasts with ectomycorrhizal fungi where the majority of species are endemic. Many of our species remain without formal names and this account I have given them temporary ‘tag names’. In compiling this account I have looked at about 300 collections in PDD, fresh material collected on forays, and my own collections. A number of New Zealand species were named in Greta Stevenson’s early accounts in Kew Bulletin (Stevenson, 1964).

Soortenlijst Van deze planten en dieren worden 149 soorten voor het eerst voor ons land opgegeven en zijn 156 soorten in eerdere publicaties als nieuw voor Nederland genoemd, mede op basis van Kaaistoepmateriaal.
