    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE TRILLIUM HEALTH PARTNERS RECEIVES LARGEST DONATION IN CANADIAN HISTORY FROM MUSLIM COMMUNITY Historic pledge of $5 million to help expand and redevelop Mississauga Hospital Mississauga, On (August 19, 2020) – In a record-breaking pledge, the Muslim community has announced $5 million to support the future redevelopment and expansion of Mississauga Hospital, one of three sites that together comprise Trillium Health Partners (THP), as part of THP’s broader redevelopment plan. Individuals, corporations, mosques and community associations from the Muslim community have a long history of giving back to THP and other health care institutions across the country. Today’s announcement marks the largest gift to a hospital by the Muslim community in Canadian history. Patrick Woliver Copyright by Crystal Yvonne Sellers 2009 Abstract ―I Sing Because I‘m Free‖: Developing a Systematic Vocal Pedagogy for the Modern Gospel Singer With roots in the early songs and Spirituals of the African American slave, and influenced by American Jazz and Blues, Gospel music holds a significant place in the music history of the United States. Whether as a choral or solo composition, Gospel music is accompanied song, and its rhythms, textures, and vocal styles have become infused into most of today‘s popular music, as well as in much of the music of the evangelical Christian church. For well over a century voice teachers and voice scientists have studied thoroughly the Classical singing voice. The past fifty years have seen an explosion of research aimed at understanding Classical singing vocal function, ways of building efficient and flexible Classical singing voices, and maintaining vocal health care; more recently these studies have been extended to Pop and Musical Theater voices. Surprisingly, to date almost no studies have been done on the voice of the Gospel singer. Despite its growth in popularity, a thorough exploration of the vocal requirements of singing Gospel, developed through years of unique tradition and by hundreds of noted Gospel artists, is virtually non-existent.

    Gentrification Reconsidered: The Case of The Junction By: Anthony Ruggiero Submitted: July 31th, 2014 A Major Paper submitted to the Faculty of Environmental Studies in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master in Environmental Studies (Urban Planning) Faculty of Environmental Studies York University, Toronto, Ontario, Canada __________________________ ___________________________ Anthony Ruggiero John Saunders, PhD MES Candidate Supervisor ii Abstract This paper examines the factors responsible for the gentrification of The Junction, a west-end neighbourhood located on the edge of downtown Toronto. After years of neglect, degradation and deindustrialization, The Junction is currently in the midst of being gentrified. Through various forms of neighbourhood upgrading and displacement, gentrification has been responsible for turning a number working-class Toronto neighbourhoods into middle-class enclaves. The Junction is unique in this regard because it does not conform to past theoretical perspectives regarding gentrification in Toronto. Through the use of an instrumental case-study, various factors responsible for The Junction’s gentrification are examined and a number of its indicators that are present in the neighbourhood are explored so that a solid understanding regarding the neighbourhood’s gentrification can be realized. What emerges is a form of ‘user-friendly’ or ‘community-driven’ gentrification that places emphasis on neighbourhood revitalization and community inclusion, as opposed to resident displacement

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE TRILLIUM HEALTH PARTNERS CELEBRATES YEAR OF ACHIEVEMENTS WHILE WORKING TOGETHER TO FIGHT GLOBAL HEALTH CRISIS Largest hospital in Canada thanks community for help in battling COVID-19 pandemic July 23, 2020 (MISSISSAUGA, ON) –– In the 2019-20 year, Trillium Health Partners (THP) had its busiest, most demanding year yet with a record 1.75 million patient visits, 277,467 visits to the hospital’s Emergency Departments (ED) and Urgent Care Centre, 64,837 surgeries performed and 8,671 babies delivered. We also ended the year fighting COVID-19 on behalf of this community. At THP’s Annual General Meeting, the following achievements were shared from the past year toward creating a new kind of health care for a healthier community: Increasing capacity both inside and outside the hospital to provide more patients with the right care in the right place at the right time; Opening three units at the Reactivation Care Centre in partnership with Humber River Hospital, adding 69 beds of capacity, so patients receive the specialized care and support they need, including occupational therapy, recreational therapy and physiotherapy, to improve their health outcomes and patient experience; Advancing our strategy to transform the way we deliver care by moving forward on plans to expand and modernize our existing sites to meet the community’s health care needs for years to come; Announcing the location of a new health centre in partnership with Heart House Hospice that will improve access to long-term and hospice palliative care for

Georgia Southern University Club Mud Winter Exhibition and Sale is Nov. 29-Dec. 1 NOVEMBER 19, 2007 Georgia Southern University’s 23rd Annual Club Mud Winter Exhibition and Sale will take place Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 29-Dec.1, in the Ceramics and Sculpture Studio at 236 Forest Drive on the Statesboro campus. The studio will be open Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Club Mud offers the public an opportunity to view and purchase original artworks created by students enrolled in the Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art. The exhibition and sale features work from art students in ceramics, jewelry and small metals. Originated by ceramics professor Jane Pleak, Club Mud gives students a show place for their work and an opportunity to explore the professional sales area of studio artwork.

STAND BY YOUR MAN, REDNECK WOMAN: TOWARDS A HISTORICAL VIEW OF COUNTRY MUSIC GENDER ROLES by CENATE PRUITT Under the Direction of Wendy S. Simonds ABSTRACT Country music, considered a uniquely American musical genre, has been relatively under-researched compared to rock and rap music. This thesis proposes research into the topic of country music, specifically the ways which country music songs portray gender. The thesis uses Billboard chart data to determine commercially successful songs, and performs a content analysis on the lyrics of these songs. I will select songs from a fifty year period ranging from 1955 to 2005, so as to allow for a longitudinal study of potential changes in
