Lancaster’s Hometown to Serve Washington-Dulles to keep Pittsburgh, Switch from Baltimore to United’s D.C. Hub

LANCASTER – April 15, 2013 — , the hometown airline of Lancaster since 2016, is moving its East Coast hub from Baltimore to Washington Dulles International Airport. The move will take place on June 28. Tickets are on sale now.

Washington Dulles offers nonstop service to 92 domestic and 55 international destinations. Southern is in late-stage discussions with United on execution of an interline partnership, which would allow seamless connections to the carrier’s massive network.

“Southern and our mid-Atlantic markets are poised for a big COVID comeback, as pandemic- weary travelers return to the skies and their favorite summer destinations,” said Mark Cestari, Chief Commercial Officer at Southern Airways. “Our new service pattern will also make it easier than ever for busy business travelers to enjoy single connections to more destinations all around the world, with the convenience of flying from their hassle-free hometown airport.”

Southern’s service to Pittsburgh International Airport will continue. Passengers connecting at Pittsburgh have numerous low-cost options as well as the ability to interline with both and . Interlined flights feature automatic baggage transfers to and from the passenger’s final destination. There will be two daily departures to Pittsburgh, the remaining three daily departures will go to Washington Dulles.

In addition to upgrading its East Coast hub, Southern Airways is also in the process of completing a fleet renovation project which includes an updated livery, new leather upholstery, and the addition of charging ports at each seat for passengers to use in-flight.
