CESSNOCK CITY COUNCIL FLOODPLAIN Cessnock City Council push for a common MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE NOMINATIONS FOR COMMUNITY sense location for REPRESENTATIVES the proposed Council at its meeting of 7 September 2016 resolved to declare the current community representative Lower Hunter positions vacant and invite expressions of interest for public nomination of community representation on the Floodplain Management Committee. A total of four (5) representatives are required, including Hospital two (2) from the Greater Cessnock area, one (1) from the greater Kurri Kurri area, one (1) from the Greater Wollombi - Millfield area and (1) from the Rothbury/Branxton/Greta area. Cessnock City Council is calling on the NSW Government to consider a location along the Hunter Expressway for the proposed new Lower Hunter Ξ Artist impression of the proposed $400 million Metford hospital Hospital. The new health hub is set to provide residents of the Hunter better access to healthcare and relieve pressure on Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital, however current plans are for the hospital to be built at Metford. Cessnock City Councillor, Paul Dunn said building the new facility at Metford will not achieve these key goals. “A true regional hospital needs to be accessible to all residents in our community, including those living in outlying areas”. “ Putting the hospital along the Hunter Expressway will provide for the most direct route as the majority of the population boom is on the west side of Maitland”.
