Honoring the Music of Ronnie Van Zant's Lynyrd Skynyrd Honoring the Music of Ronnie Van Zant's Lynyrd Skynyrd. The Artimus Pyle Band A tribute to Ronnie More than just a “tribute” to Lynyrd Skynyrd a tribute to the man that defined it. Artimus Pyle has said “If it wasn’t for Ronnie, no one would know my name.” Since his departure from Skynyrd in 1991, Artimus Pyle’s career has led him down an amazing path of solo records and projects culminating into one the finest tributes to southern rock royalty. The Artimus Pyle Band is a high energy, true to the music, and true to the era rock group. One of the few that is on the road today. Artimus Pyle, Brad Durden, Jerry Lyda, Tony Black, and Scott Raines are not only a group of friends and contemporaries but a group with some of the most seasoned musician in the southeast. The talk of 2011’s Rock Legends cruise, APB delivers hit after hit after hit, night after night after night. From Freebird to Sweet Home Alabama APB gives fans the best of Skynyrd with one of men who made it! Artimus Pyle - Drums 2006 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Long considered the “wild man” of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Artimus Pyle’s powerful and distinctive double bass drumming helped define the legendary Skynyrd sound. Artimus got his first real break at the Charlie Daniels band’s Volunteer Jam. His first recording lists -- Artimus Pyle, percussion. Then with other work for the Marshall Tucker Band, Artimus became known as a powerful session drummer. Using his connections with Charlie Daniels and Marshall Tucker, both acts that toured often with Skynyrd, Artimus met with Ronnie VanZant and Ed King at Studio One in Doraville, Georgia. The results of that meeting -- Saturday Night Special -- greatly impressed Ronnie. Artimus’ live debut with the band took place in Jacksonville’s Sgt Pepper’s Club in October 1974. The gig, a show to raise money and awareness for Jacksonville’s food bank, was hot Everyone remembers the band walking through the front door and into a crush of people that doubled the legal occupancy of the club. Playing under the hot lights in an over-packed club with an underpowered air conditioner made for a memorable night When Bob Burns left the band permanently following Skynyrd’s first European tour in December 1974, Artimus quickly got the nod as Skynyrd’s new drummer. The years Artimus played with Skynyrd were the years that solidified the legend behind the band. Quickly developing into one of the nation’s top touring draws with a grueling schedule of 300 shows a year, the constant work and touring paid off. By October 20, 1977, Skynyrds songs had become radio staples. Brad Durden - Vocals/Keys “I try to mix a lot of different styles into my own” Brad Durden grew up in the small town of Twin City, GA. He started playing with bands at the age of 15 and has toured with various groups since 1986. In 1991, Brad joined the Southern rock band Copperhead and signed a deal with Mercury Records in 1992. Copperhead toured from 1992-1994, sharing the stage with such acts as Lynyrd Skynyrd, .38 Special, The Outlaws, Molly Hatchet, The Kentucky Headhunters, as well as Night Ranger, Foreigner, Survivor, and Quiet Riot. He also got the chance to work with the legendary producer Tom Dowd (Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Allman Brothers, Aretha Franklin, just to name a few) and Rodney Mills (.38 Special, the Doobie Brothers). Brad also had a short stint in country music, sharing the stage with such acts as Kenny Chesney and the Dixie Chicks. His influences range from Billy Poweii (Lynyrd Skynyrd), Elton John and Jon Lord (Deep Purple) to “really anyone who has played piano, Hammond B-3 or keyboards in general”. Brad is also a songwriter and does studio sessions when time permits. Scott Raines - Guitar “Scott knows skynyrd in and out.” Scott Raines grew up in Slocomb, AL. He started playing guitar at the age of 9, learning by ear the music of Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers and the like. He has performed with bands, played studio sessions and performed solo acoustic/vocal gigs ever since. Though his roots are in classic rock and roll, Scott’s vast experience has given him the ability to easily cross genres. He loves to jam with everyone, declaring that music is conversation with many dialects. “I learn something from everyone”, he declares. Scott is also a songwriter. He enjoys collaboration and admits that music and arranging is where his strength lies. Scott married his wife, Michelle in 2000 and they have 2 daughters, Jordan and Chloe. Scott also enjoys investing (real estate & stock market), commercial real estate brokerage, running, biking and outdoor activities. He is an active Rotarian and prioritizes community service as well as serving abroad, volunteering for mission trips when opportunities arise. Jerry Lyda - Guitar “Forget the ego because I promise you don’t have to go far to find players that are better.” Jerry Lyda started out playing in rock cover bands in the early 80’s touring the Southeast club circuit. Late 80’s formed a country band called The Colts again touring the Southeast US opening shows for Kenny Chesney, Johnny Paycheck, John Anderson, Wade Hayes and many others. Jerry owns and operates Music City Asheville, the leading music store in western North Carolina. Jerry’s versatile guitar sytle and the raw power of his Les Paul add the perfect compliment to Scott’s rich strat sound. This dynamic makes THE sound fans of the band expect. “Playing with Artimus has been a complete pleasure and continues to be. To be able to play that music with the man that helped create it is pretty special.” When asked about why Skynyrds music has stood the test of time: “When things are real people tend to relate much better. If you listen to any of the Skynyrd stuff that Ronnie wrote you can almost see yourself in the situation he’s writing about because it’s about normal everyday life.” Dave Fowler - Bass Since age 13 Dave has played bass guitar for many top tier Nashville based acts among them Lorrie Morgan, John Michael Montgomery, Ronnie Milsap, Tracy Lawrence, Dottie West and he has also tour managed acts such as Dr John and Dolly Parton. He grew up in Asheville, NC where he honed his “bass skills” playing southern gospel music as a teen ager. As he developed as a bassist his love for all music grew to great proportions especially southern based music .. ala Lynyrd Skynyrd among many other bands from the 70’s and 80’s. He counts it a real honor to have been asked to join The Artimus Pyle Band in 2016. The guys welcomed me and made me feel comfortable right from the start Dave says.. it’s a real blessing to get to do something you love with all your heart and make a living at it.     Dear Patrons, Welcome back to live events at the Bologna Performing Arts Center! We are excited to have artists returning to our stage, and look forward to inviting you to attend shows again. Things will be a little different this spring and summer. Due to the ongoing nature of the pandemic, we are going to put each show on sale individually, about 4-6 weeks before each event. This allows us to make sure we are following the most recent executive orders, including audience capacity guidelines. Please refer to the on-sale dates for each artist in this brochure. Seating has been reduced for our Spring/Summer Series, and is being sold in staggered pairs and groups. We ask that you purchase all of the seats in the grouping to ensure that patrons are comfortable being seated together. At this time, all patrons are required to wear masks during their visit to the Bologna Performing Arts Center. All of our staff and volunteers will also wear masks, and do daily temperature checks and symptom monitoring. We ask you to please monitor your own health, and stay home if you do not feel well. We have also increased our cleaning and sanitation regimens. We have invested in new cleaning systems to ensure that the theater is totally sanitized prior to every performance. However, in addition to the statutory requirements, many authors like Charlie Daniels, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen face an additional obstacle: the termination gap. The termination gap arises in when authors entered term songwriter’s agreements or other multiyear agreements prior to January 1, 1978 to assign their copyrighted works but did not create these works until after January 1, 1978, the effective date of the Copyright Act of 1976 and Section 203. Due to an ambiguity in the language of Section 203, it is unclear whether authors affected by the termination gap can actually terminate their assignments under Section 203 or whether they must wait longer to terminate their works under Section 304. The Copyright Office had the first opportunity to address the issue through its rulemaking process but did not offer an authoritative interpretation of Section 203, leaving it to the courts or Congress to address the termination gap. The Copyright Office’s conservative rulemaking leaves authors and their heirs vulnerable to courts who have not always respected Congress’s intent to give authors an inalienable termination right and to a Congress that in recent years has at times shown more fidelity to larger business interests than to individual authors.

An outspoken patriot, beloved mentor to young artists and still a road warrior at age 80, Charlie has parlayed his passion for music into a multi-platinum career and a platform to support the military, underprivileged children and others in need. Raised among the longleaf pines of North Carolina, Charlie began his career playing bluegrass music with the Misty Mountain Boys. After moving to Nashville in 1967, he began making a name for himself as a songwriter, session musician and producer. Elvis Presley recorded a tune Charlie co-wrote titled “It Hurts Me,” which was released on the flip side of “Kissin’ Cousins.” He played on such landmark albums as Bob Dylan’s Nashville Skyline and tried his hand at producing the Youngbloods’ Elephant Mountain and Ride the Wind. His own unique voice as an artist emerged as Charlie recorded his self-titled solo album in 1970 for Capitol Records. Two years later he formed the Charlie Daniels Band and the group scored its first hit with the top ten “Uneasy Rider.” Since then the CDB has populated radio with such memorable hits as “Long Haired Country Boy,” “The South’s Gonna Do It Again,” “In America,” “The Legend of Wooley Swamp” and of course, his signature song, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” which won a Grammy for Best Country Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group in 1979 as well as single of the year at the Country Music Association Awards.
